Resonator Delete Cost?

Instead of spending the $4,000+ it would cost to get a full catback I'm debating on just doing a resonator delete and MAYBE muffler/backbox delete. Obviously shop prices vary but has anyone else done anything similar and if so how much was it?

Did you get the sound you were hoping for afterwards? Or am I better off going full catback?

If anything I’d say it’s a little quieter than simple resonator delete with straight pipe. But not much. A little less raspy though.

Install our secondary downpipes or full downpipe completely reversible and huge difference in sound. A new exhaust really is not needed on this car imo.

I'd 100% go downpipes if I didn't have to worry about BMW wanting to blame any or every issue that could potentially pop up on them.

this plus secondary downpipe is allllll the noise you'll need. The "Cheapest" and most effective route.

Youll be fine just replacing the secondary DP and leaving the Primary Cat

Dope seeing someone I always see on M5F90s on IG.

Meaning secondary DP they won't really give a shit about or give me issues with or? In Florida so emissions isn't really a thing here. Just curious as to dealers and if anything happens to pop up (that's not related to the dp's) if the dealer will try to blame said issue on it. Also does replacing the secondary dp throw a code?

Already had my MAD secondary downpipes and they sounded great; added a good amount of depth to the sound and made the backfires more aggressive without pushing it too much. Yesterday I went to a local muffler shop and had the resonator delete done which was replaced with straight pipes. It is much louder and the pops are crazy. Sounds fantastic WOT especially at higher rpms but is raspy ESPECIALLY ON COLD START. I will be trouble shooting this to see if I can manage to retain the sound increase and eliminate the raspyness.

With the stock tune, the cold start programming remains and I would expect the noise to be even greater. Straight pipes are louder than H or X and my guess is your local muffler shop did not replace the X that was inside your resonator.

I will be getting a tune in the coming months but I am waiting to order and install my catless primary DP's before I get a tune. I'm thinking of getting back under the car and fabricating a sort of H pipe to see if that eliminates some of the rasp. I've seen a lot of people on this forum debate the X-pipe vs straight pipe situation but have not seen a single person complain of rasp after straight pipes replacing the resonator so I am curious why I'm the only one saying anything about this. Maybe its an issue with just my car because of something wrong I am unaware of?

I don’t think many people have done muffler shop straight pipes. Typically people do a Dinan X pipe resonator delete or install an aftermarket exhaust. Of those that have done 2 separate unconnected pipes, maybe they did not mind the noise. There is a utube video with before and after sound on an X5 and honestly to me the before sound was not objectionable. Before was separate exhaust piping and after was with an X added.
