And looks fantastic with the pre-LCI gauges!

I miss those quite often.

I had the new trim piece painted in black at the same time before I fitted it altogether.

Note that I bought a set of X3 buttons first and they didn't work. Car threw an error every time I pressed the cruise button (even though they looked the same). Have a look on RealOEM to find the correct part number for your car.
Hi, what buttons did you buy in the end to make it work? The x3 g01 buttons did not work then? Was the buttons the same as your pre lci? (In terms of functionality)

Hi thanks for your useful post. When you say “right” buttons
What do you mean by that?

I am looking at buttons from an x3 g01. It has the exact same functionality as my pre lci buttons (ie just standard cruise) so I am hoping it would
Work

You just want to make sure that you don’t get the switches with green light on top. For ZDY functionality or else they wont work.

Work
The buttons and trim should work without issue so long as the buttons are the same functions as your current wheel. Your inbox is full. Please delete messages.

Hello, can someone post the part number for the LCI steering wheel trim?

I've looked on realoem.com and getbmwparts.com using a VIN# from a 2020 and 2021 M5 Competition, but they have part number 32-30-8-099-790 listed which is for the pre LCI.

Just to be sure, is this how your steering wheel looked like before upgrading?

^ Thanks for posting that. I was so confused.

My '20 is pre-LCI, but has the full digital cluster (no rings) and the steering wheel buttons that the OP upgraded to.

Bmw removed the rings since 19 but still kept ID6, then some of the pre-lci 20 models came with ID7… I was surprised actually when I got rental F90 which was pre LCI and had ID7

I thought all the 2020 models had ID7. Mine does anyway. I do recall someone calling it ID7 “light” so maybe there are still differences. It’s a funny thing how BMW did part of the refresh in our 2020 models.
