Porterfield R4-S
Congrats on the M5. A modification you may want to consider is changing the brake pads. I have owned my M5 (F90) for two years and I finally got tired of the excessive brake dust and squealing of the brakes when coming to a stop.
Reading the recommendation of other forum members I went with the Porterfield R4-S brakes for the front and rear. I could not be happier. The brake dust has been reduced and no more squealing brake pads. I installed them back in December of 2019 and wish I would have done it sooner. Last edited by Egrunt; 08-01-2020 at 01:33 PM.. |

You will need thin wrenches to remove the rear brake caliber. I bought these from Amazon :Capri Tools Super-Thin Open End Wrench Set, Metric, 6 to 19 mm, 7-Piece. I have a nice selection of tools and nothing I had would fit between the rear brake caliber and caliber retaining bolt. Once I had the Capri Tools Super-Thin Open End Wrench Set, Metric, 6 to 19 mm, 7-Piece it was a piece of cake. Even Harbor Freight did not have a thin open end wrench to hold the retaining bolt in place. If I remember you have to screw the rear caliber puck into the brake caliber. Since your M5 is new you may not need to do this.

Sunroof m5 is a unicorn for sure. I sometimes wish I had taken that option lol!
Very interested in the cf mudflaps. I have side skirts so I'm not sure how they will look with those. |

Haha I would swap with you. Really rather have the cf roof for the pure aesthetics of it really. I'm not a huge sunroof guy but I will use it in the fall and winter. I love the cold. I just think it adds more heat into the car

The new one goes in just as easy. Put on the silicone couplers. Tighten one end. Put in the new metal heat shields. Slide in the cf intakes tighten the rest of the silicone coupler. Remove grill (super easy) and pop in the cf ducts onto the existing support bars. Whole thing probably took me 45 min. And I was going slow examining pictures and what not. If I had to do it again it would take no more than 20-30 min. But the new "whoosh" sound is intoxicating haha. Don't get me wrong. The whole thing isn't worth the MSRP. He'll probably not even worth what I paid for it but I felt good about paying what I paid for it and just not gonna look back. Big box showed up and of course I have a nest door bell camera which caused the wife to start texting me immediately about this "giant" box. Luckily I get a lot of Amazon and they love to ship it all in big boxes. Haha

So just had the ACG pads put on and immediately it sounds like my front wheels are about to fall off. I've never had so much grinding noise come from pads before. It's actually quite concerning.
Edit: took the car back to the shop and had them tear it back apart up until closing time. Turns out the guy some how installed one of the pads inside out...said something about how it's designed and looked he just didn't notice....umm ok, either way it's all fixed now and silent as nuclear refinery. Thank god!

Your car is looking great w/ all the mods. If you really like the CF roof, why don't you just wrap it, then you'll have the best of both worlds - sun roof and CF look Aceman |

Ya I've been thinking about that. Pretty simple to do I suppose. Just need to price it out and make sure it doesn't look cheesy

Love the steering wheel surround! I think that's my next mod. Where did you pick that up from?

Appreciate it man. I've been contemplating pulling back a bit just cuz this forum doesn't seem very active compared to the F15 thread which surprised me but I assume it's just due to the average age of M5 ownership vs X5 or M3 for that manner.
