Here is the link to the full Instagram video, originally posted by BMW M as an unlinkable story but reposted for sharing by a different account that sells BMWs in the UAE.
https://www.instagram.com/tv/CJY18l7J9BA/ Worth noting also that the wheels are forged aluminum per M CEO, which while identical in weight to the M5 Comp wheels, would contribute to some weight savings against a standard M5 at least.

Please let it be discounted F80CS proportions. This is the last good looking bmw M sedan remaining in the low 100k range and below.

Sorry gents hoping you can explain this to me - why the negative responses?
I'm in the market and have it narrowed down to M5 Comp and E63S. I have fallen in love with my X5M and I'm really trying to educate myself on the M5's. Is this a "new" model or just an LCI? Is it faster than the 2020 M5 Comp? The weight savings are good, but you guys are saying the power is not sufficient? |

How exactly was the weight reduced by 154 lbs ? Obviously CCB and Forged Wheels help a lot. I'm wondering how uncomfortable those seats will be. Still. It looks beautiful there's no denying that.

People will buy it, but like the M8, its a question of how many people will. Hopefully BMW will get the demand right, and won't have another 8er situation, or even the M4CS's that had been sitting on lots for some time. The Panamera, like the M8 also struggles. Before Covid started there were still a lot of brand new 2018 Turbo's with barely any miles that had been sitting on lots forever, even with huge discounts, they aren't easy cars to move even with the Porsche badge. People would rather spend that money on a 911 or even a Cayenne than a Panny.

The M5CS will easily exceed $150k USD. Ridiculous price point and it was recently stated that it's track time was still slower than an M8 Competition.
Sure it will be cool, but this car is only intended for those who have the money to buy such a car and store it in a garage. No one will actually drive this car on the daily. Given that, the next gen G90 M5 in its base form will still be faster than the M5CS and will cost less. But I'm still glad they are developing such a car as the M5CS as it has never been done by M Division before, and I think there can never be enough M5 love in this world. I'll take all we can get. Especially before things go full electric in the not so far future.

And so what if it "only" 635 horses and costs? Who cares. Very few can take this car to its limits on a race track, and life is not all about straight line speeds. The weight reduction is what matters more. FWIW, Auto Bild drove the M5 CS prototype around Lausitzring quicker than a 991.1 GT3, still half a sec slower than M8C, though. This car got me excited more than the G80.

Of course there will be a few that have to first on the block to have it but I dont see the appeal or demand to offset that price point (that all are guessing is circa 150). Case in point, the majestic M8 coupe at 160k msrps are selling like shit. Heck I bought mine for 103k with 1700 miles on it. The price delta on these cars are just off.

Well, depends on what you see as awkward...there will be for sure some M3 and M4 CS coming later, so they need to keep some options open to reduce the weight then..
I'm sure we will see some similar upgrades on them coming like carbon hood, standard carbon buckets, ceramics and so on... |
