Now a (non comp) M5 and I agree it really does remind me of my E92 M3s...that same feeling of confidence and the way it moves around beneath you.
The xdrive is a great system...rwd all the time until you lose rear traction when it starts to shift drive to the front wheels.
You can get on the power really early coming out of a turn.
Very interesting comment. I'm thinking of trading my F80 for a 2021 M5. I had an E90 M3 right before the F80 and agree with you. The F80 isn't as great as the E90 or any of the earlier M3s.

The F80 is plenty competent but it also lack character. It feel clinical and the materials feel "dead" like a plastic Nikon vs a Leica M. The mechanical alive and substantial feel of the earlier generations is missing.

Would you say the F90 has more of that mechanical substantial feel of the E series cars?
Nope. It lacks the drama of the E92 M3

Turbo plus torque converter plus sheer size will never resemble lighter aspirated V8 plus manual .

That being said, the F90 M5 is amazing in the twisties, very capable

The M5C is very agile, and is a great handling car. The only thing is that it is not small. So, it really depends on the type of roads that you are driving on and whether the size of the road hampers the ability to properly drive the car. Otherwise, the car has high limits, and unbelievable power.

don't buy a bomber if you need a fighter jet.

any great air force needs both.

The incredibly fast Nürburgring time shows the M5C is a proper quick car even with the weight it carries.
E9x Ms and F8x Ms wouldn't keep up with it on country roads all else being equal.

Hmmm...well the M5 compared to the likes of e92 M3 might still be a bomber, but maybe a little more like a B-2, as opposed to a B-52!
