You guys are silly. They took a little “notch” out of the headlights. It’s probably the most subtle LCI I’ve ever seen, and (some of) y’all are acting like it’s the new 3/4-series grille. 😂

Disappointing...The front end of the pre LCI is more aggressive imo. This seems subdued, almost like what they do to differentiate the M550 to M5.

BMW should have accelerated the full redesign of the M5. Even in LCI, it's starting to be a bit long in the tooth.

By contrast, the 3 series, 8 series, and X5/X6/X7 laser headlights were designed to only function on the high beam (low beam is still regular LED) which is USA DOT legal.
Actually, I was wrong about the above. Here is the exact reason the laser headlight in the 8 series (and by inference the 3 series/X5/X6/X7) are USA DOT legal but the laser headlight in the 5 series is not:

"US market M8: the Laser SHB (Supplementary High Beam) is incorporated together with the LED High Beam, and does not add to the total number of light emitting devices. By definition under FMVSS 108, these combination headlamps do not exceed the permissible maximum of 2 forward light emitting devices per side.

On the G30/F90 LCI, it's an independent multi-function dynamic lighting module in addition to the two LED projectors, making a total of 3 forward light emitting devices per side and thus, non-compliant."
That is annoying...

This.
I ordered one because it's stealth ...and looks like an Audi. ;)

Problem with this generation in my opinion is that it looks way too close to the previous F10.

To each his own, but I loved my F10 (which I just sold), and if not for 4 wheel drive would have kept it much longer (only had 23000 miles). I had 2 Range Rovers in years past and kind of liked that they keep the basic car look and make just subtle improvements. This way your car does not seem so outdated if you keep it a long time. I have 21 LCI M5C on order which will be my 5th consecutive M5 and I agree the F10 to F90 is by far the least difference in appearance, just that I view that as a good thing!

I agree, it is not a bad design to be based off of, as its very clean and handsome, the issue is that the G30 has been dated since its release, it doesn't really look fresh or new since its pretty similar to the F10 which is now a decade old. Time for a new design I think.

I think BMW made the LCI ugly so the next gen 5 series looks better and we buy that instead lol

I doubt it, next 5er will likely have jumbo sized grills and lack of BMW styling cues if anything.

2022 f80 build sheet lists 552 for part number.

maybe it's because they are being built after the law change here in USA?
I read on the 5 series LCI unveiling thread that the reason the 5 series LCI laser headlights are not USA legal is that the laser component functions both on the low beam and high beam. However it works, and I don't pretend to understand it - that's not USA DOT legal.

What about 7 series? 2020 7 series has laser light option, BMW take it out for 2021 MY.

Agree with you both and that's what I said in an earlier post. In fact, I liked the F10 a lot but was never excited about G30 (comparing the non-M so the M fan boys don't hit back )
