It's been talked about before and seems to be verified by a reliable source. Expecting production to start around November of '24.
I've already secured the first allocation at the dealership I use. Very excited for it!

Seems to be true so far. I'm on a list at my dealer if it ever materializes. I still think an M3 wagon is the perfect all-rounder, but I'm planning to snag an M5 wagon as soon as it becomes available if I can, because I'll take what I can get! Wagons >>>>>>>>> (I'm second on the list at BMW Manhattan. Who here is #1?? )

Would love to but I think the pricing is going to be stupid. Ie even worse than current M5 pricing. Always loved the CTS-V wagon.

I suspect for the same reason the M3 wagon won't make it to the US market the M5 won't either. BMW says it is too cost prohibitive to develop and test the changes needed since it doesn't currently meet US safety standards.

My understanding is that the 3 series wagon didn't make it over here because of the placement of the battery. I'm under the impression that this has been resolved for the upcoming M5 Touring.

And they are just badass. There is something to be said about a station wagon that can destroy almost anything on the road of the line.

That's a bit of an extreme example but I still think there is some merit to getting cars when various issues have been worked out. |

I expect this forum/thread will be biased towards those who have interest in this but am I right in my understanding that tourings are generally not very popular in North America? I definitely do not see a lot of e63 wagons or rs6's.
I'm sure market research was done to make this decision but how many units do you think will sell compared to m5 sedan?

To each their own, but when we roll deep we take the SUV. Does the wagon even have three rows of seats?

Looks like ONE car still has them in the modern age, so your wishes possibly aren't too far off.

OMG! That just brought back memories of my brother and I as kids riding in Dad’s wagon (Dodge I believe) getting motion sickness traveling on winding roads fighting with each other while Dad was screaming, “I’m gonna pull this goddamn car over!”

I would love to see how this one will end up. The problem with wagon is not battery or anything else for that matter. It's simple math. Look up how much the homologation process cost to sell new car model here in the states if regular wagons like 530s 540s would be sold in higher numbers we would get whatever M wagon would be available since it wouldn't require BMW to pay another 50-80 million USD to introduce it to the market. That's a lot of money that would have to be recouped, before you start making profit. There are not many RS6 or E63 wagons on the road because of the simple fact that allocations are very limited. However keep in mind that Audi and Mercedes they sell their regular wagon versions of those cars that allows them to introduce fast versions of them to our market. Meanwhile BMW doesn't have wagon available in their current lineup for US market. I have never understood SUV phenomenon maybe if we had more than 2 kids that would make sense to me. But that higher seating position is not appealing to me at all. Seems like everyone is in suv those days so everyone is sitting higher in larger car. That kind of defeats the purpose to me at least. So in the meantime I enjoy my NA 63AMG along our M5 👍

I think they have previously avoided bringing the wagon over here because they don't want to eat into their most profitable segment (SUVs).
