I just got a CarBahn tune from RRT in Sterling, VA. I'm going to hopefully get some dragy runs in this weekend and write up a review. I have been very happy with it from a butt dyno perspective .

Garage List
Look at MHD. My son uses them on his M235i.
Super intuitive and good stuff, flashes the ecu via Bluetooth.
His car took my M550i to Gapplebees.

I asked them and they said it had to be mailed to California. Did it take you a week?
I've never been to RRT but I live next door in Sterling.

I have a 2019 and fortunately the DME's didn't need to come out. Simply tuned via OBD port.

yup all 2021 model m cars have the ECU locked and cannot be tuned via OBD

this will be the issue for every BMW 2021 onwards.

so yes you would have to remove your ECU and mail it in and get the tune flashed on to the ECU..

here is the issue with the bench tune ...there is no way to go back to stock tune when you need to go to the dealer for service..

so when they plug in the car at the dealer to do any type of service the tech will flag your car for warranty and it will be voided...

the ECU would have to be sent back to the tuning company and they will flash the tune on it back to stock.

if you still want a tune contact... DME Tuning Fair lawn NJ

Yeah, I heard tuning will void warranty going forward. Going off memory, I thought BMW could tell even if it is changed back there is still a record of the tune. It would offer an easy way for BMW to deny a significant warranty claim.

Bench tunes were the only option for F10 M5's for a long time until the ECU was cracked several years after launch.

I suspect it will take some time to crack LCI ecu's.

I've tuned many cars and on the F90 the JB4 was my choice. No downpipes needed. Throw some race fuel in and have some fun

This isn't helpful to the OP's question...

But is it too much to ask that people put useful information in thread titles?

Are you trying to tune your M850 or an M5? Which year?

Until they can be unlocked just do a JB4 then either sell it for close to what you paid for the warranty crowd or use it for logging and stuff with your flash.

Heard a conflicting story or two. Mostly about Racechip but since the philosophy is essentially the same I wonder gains from 2018-2020 will be realized in 2021 and on

Yes, it's a piggy back clips into sensors and adds boost.
