Front license plate holder for new M5 LCI

As I am still awaiting my M5 that’s still in production, I wanted to ask about the front license plate holder. I’m in California where a front plate is required. I’m going to have the dealer not mount it upon delivery and see how long I can go without it. My current car I went without a front plate for about 2 years before I got a fix it ticket.

I prefer to have the front plate mounted than have it offset via the tow hitch if I had to go the front plate route.

Today I got a new 5 loaner as my car is in for service. Looks like the front plate holder is upside down. Or is that the way it’s mounted because the radar sensor is right below it so it cannot be obstructed. Looks odd how the plate will cover the bottom of the front grill. On my F10, the front plate sits below the grill. Anyone mounted the front plate can advise. Thanks!

I also live in LA. You must join us for one of our M5 meets. p.s, I have owned 3 M5's and none have worn a front plate. Can't do it.

Don't do it!!!!! This is my 5th M and I've never put the front plate on. I'm in San Diego, was in La for years and maybe got 1-2 fix it tickets, just zip tie the plate on, get it signed off and then remove it. A $10 fix it ticket is well worth no holes and ugly plate on the front ! Take it off!!

I'm in NJ. My last car, I had installed the retractable plate. Turns out that I never used it. Never. It was always retracted. I don't drive with front plates anymore. Never a problem.

In NYC, was forced to get a retractable after 3/4 tickets in the first 2/3 months. Used the retractable daily but it needed fixing 3/4 times in 2 years before dying all together. Not really sure what to do for the incoming F90.

Definitely. Are the meets here in LA posted on this site? I’m expecting my M5 in January according to my CA.
