self closing door

I wonder why no-one has talked about the self closing door feature.
Its amazing and every time a new person enters my car I tell them just click the door slow and let it close itself, they are like wow, cool.
I love it .

Nice feature, but it's nothing new. I had soft-closing doors on my 1994 Acura Legend coupe.

I think Merc S class introduced the soft close door feature in 1989 or early 90's?

It's soft close door and been around for 30 years

Now the self closing door is a feature on a slightly more expensive rolls Royce :-)

I didn't want it, but it was part of the package on my X5. I figured it was the answer to question I never asked, and just more weight and complexity and more stuff that could break, but after awhile, I got used to it, now I like it. Now it's one more of those things that I didn't know I needed until they made me take it.

Show them gestures control, that's jaw dropping if you like gimmicks.

"Don't slam the door!" If there were a way to get a mp3 recording to automatically play each time the passenger door is opened, I'd pay good money for that. It amazes me how long it took me to train my wife on that one. (To wit, I trained our new dog to fetch the paper in a week; surely the human is smarter than the dog.).

Had it on my 650i GC, missed it on my X4MC. Got my thumb caught it the door once, was gently closing the door, thumb wrapped around the door (since I was lightly walking the door closed) and the auto triggered and closed the door, with my thumb in the edge. Just a heads up/fyi.

Yea, because the doors on the M5 are so light that they don't require self closing! When they first came out, doors were like bank vaults and it was a nice feature to have so you didn't have to slam doors shuts. Nowadays, even the biggest MBs have some easy to close doors.
