Hi, do you have an Instagram account for this car? Haven't seen much pics of it on IG other than the IND pics.

Thanks for asking. Unfortunately no, can't have a social media presence because of my job. Forum posting is as far as I can go lol...

I want to get another shoot done soon so hopefully more pics coming on the future.

Not yet. Waiting on the downpipes first so they can be installed at the same time.

Aloha Everyone, long time no update! I have been gathering parts for two more rounds. Interior and power. Interior almost done and power is kind of a no rush because ecu's are not remote tunable yet. In the meantime I went down the rabbit hole a little bit further with an oil change.

Not just any oil change mind you, more of a remove the oil pan and add a titanium oil diverter valve oil change. If you are going to do it might as well go all out right?! Anyways this little mod has done wonders for my oil temp. The gauge is an actual gauge now instead of just dummy pegged in the center. Driving over the mountain at a steady state? Oil cooler and noticeable on the gauge. Sitting in traffic? Noticeable in the gauge. Basically the diverter valve just makes the oil go through the oil cooler all the time instead of it being based on a temp switch. Very helpful here in Hawaii and when on boost.

Valve is found here if anyone is interested:

https://n63intake.com/products/n63-n...l-cooler-valve

Also switched from oem water to actual oil with some weight in it. 0-w30 is just ridiculous for Hawaii and this motor so 15-w50 went in. To top it off had the Weistec filter container installed to complete the ridiculous oil change. A few pics for the journal that my mechanic took during the process.

There are builds and then there's a Kimo build. Hope you're doing well brother.

Kimo what a build and very informative. The oil diverter valve looks like a simple change sitting next to the filter. According to the manufacturer site i would not need to remove the oil pan is that correct? Seem like a no brainer and was wondering is it that simple? Seems like a mod anybody in warm climates should do and something that any normal BMW tech would not notice. Thanks want to purchase your car when your done with it.

Did your mechanic explain why he removed the lower oil pan? From the N63 website, it appears the oil diverter is under the threaded plug just to the side of the oil filter and released with a 14mm Allen wrench.

Now, with the new diverter, does your oil temp reach the temps it did while stock when you’re on boost for a considerable time? Our gauges aren’t the most precise, but can you estimate the lower oil temp you now run when you’re not on boost?

Thanks! Unfortunately not that simple. On the s63tu4 motors the oil diverter valve is inside so you have to drop the oil pan. If you have Instagram Troy Jeup did a post on it awhile ago so just look it up. I thought the same at first, but my mechanic was like nope, must drop pan. He said it was simple though. Just need a new gasket of course.

For your first paragraph please see my response above. In regards to your second paragraph it can still get to the mid point. It is just that you have to be sitting in traffic or do several pulls and then stop for that to happen. While you are pulling it stays cooler as the air is going through the cooler obviously. Same with steady state cruising.

This mod plus a better weight oil has made all the difference over here for me. It may be placebo, but I feel like the motor is happier if that makes sense.

Whoa, that's gorgeous. Is the CF trim an overlay, or full replacement? I assume aftermarket too, yes?

I never thought I'd like green, but this one I do.

How does an M5 hold up in Hawaii? I thought the high humidity and heat and salt air would do a number on the car and make it hard to maintain? Compared to California for example.

If you don't remove the pan during oil change, that's the amount of oil left in the engine to be mixed with new oil?

Thanks! What you see in that pic are oem ceramic controls retrofitted, oem mperformance shifter trim, and autotecnik's cf overlay trim. I wanted to use it as a proof of concept to determine if going fully custom is worth it. I am pleasantly surprised at how good it fits. Not 100% fitment, but good enough that people who do not know it's an overlay would ever think so.

The issue with trim incase you don't know is that the door trims are plastic welded to the doors. As such most aftermarket or consumers want to deal with breaking the welds, switching pieces, and getting them jb welded back on. However with this proof of concept being so successful I think I might pursue it. As a last mod type of thing.

Yeah salt air is a thing. Car is fully expelled and gets washed weekly so not worried. If cars are regularly washed and protected they last a long time here.

Aloha Guys,

Changed wheels recently and wanted to show some pics from a couple shoots I had. The new wheels are 21 inch BBS FI-Rs in custom white gold finish. Special thanks to Ryan and the entire staff at IND for the continued support.

Also finally started posting on social media, Instagram is 808bot if anyone is curious.

Mod Update:

So it has been a bit since I last updated this thread. Added the BBS, which I reposted above. Been compiling my next round of mods over the past yearish or so. Car goes in the shop this Saturday. List of parts for this round:

1. Supersprint Headers with swaintech white lightning coating
2. Supersprint catted downpipes with swaintech white lightning coating
3. Akrapovic exhaust - If it ships in time. If not gets installed a month from now
4. Thermostat
5. Carbahn Stage 2 package - charge coolers, radiators, boost sensors, and software
6. LCI tail lights
7. CS trunk spoiler
8. Turbo blankets
9. New rear shock mounts

I think that's it this go around for parts. Also flushing all fluids and changing the spark plugs and exhaust gaskets to give the car the best possible start with these go-fast mods. I should hopefully get some pics of the progress and will be sure to post. Any questions about anything just let me know.
