Besides the fact that the MPE is going to sound awesome regardless, it's still a mixed bag of results. I for one had ZERO change to my exhaust note after the recall and software upgrade.

Man this is flashbacks to 2019 for me. Except it went the opposite direction. They pulled that tune immediately but it made my car twice as loud. I had to remove the DP's because it was NOT a good loud.
I wondered if things were going to get lost in translation with these updates. Meaning, for example, CA cars will have different settings because the emissions is more stringent than the other 49 states. Then you have CA had briefly adopted "quieter exhaust laws" and then sprinkle in the EU with their regulator shit in regards to exhaust noise and then all the other countries and their laws we may not know about? Make it annoying for updates I'm sure. |

I just took my 2020 M5 Comp to Daniels BMW in Allentown (08/24) for recall and I confirm my car has been neutered. No backfire, pops, nothing. I called my SA and he is stating he has never heard of it before. The tech asked for my VIN Number to investigate. Waiting to hear from them.

Find that odd. Had mine done in February and still have plenty of the annoying Honda 4 banger fart can pops and bangs. That's all the exhaust knows how to do is fart. No real V8 growl without a $3-8k exhaust is mind blowing to me.

Just an FYI, dealer said that there is a run-in engine management software program prior doing the run in service. Different one for after, so there could be some slight differences, but should be improvements in performance. FWIW, the first few days after the service, my MPE sounded muted. After that, and a few WOT runs, it sounds louder than before the run in service.

My 2019 M5C used to sound like a machine popping off at times...now it never, ever really bangs like that anymore.
I sort of miss it. Is there a tune that can bring it back??
