Love bites....

So I've only had my M5C LCI for about 5 weeks and after breaking it in, I've started to drive it harder. My M1 button is set to Sport Plus Engine, Sport suspension, Comfort steering and 4WD. Fun, fast and safe.

Yesterday I tried my M2 setting for the first time....all sport plus and 4WD SPORT. I was trying to see where the breakpoint was as far as traction. I made a turn and pushed the throttle a little bit ...the car went sideways so violently that it genuinely frightened me. Luckily, it was fine...but it was so sudden and violent.

Anyone feel comfortable driving on the road in 4WD SPORT?

Unless the surface was slippery, you were very aggressive or your tyres were cold it should not have taken you sideways like you describe.
It should have allowed you some slip and then snapped itself back into place.

Don't get me wrong, you can spin the car in 4wd Sport, however you would have to be pushing bloody hard to do it.

4WD Sport = Fun Mode

2WD = Suicide Mode

Is there still MDM mode in the F90? So, in order of sane to you’re gonna bin it, would it then be: 4WD, MDM, 4WDS, 2WD?

4WDS is MDM mode.

To put it into 2WD the DSC has to be off.

Physics will always win over traction control. Also, if you weren't going completely straight it will kick the back end out (especially on cold tires).

POWER>>>>>MORE POWER>>>>>>

You have to get used to this car slowly! And yes 2WD mode is suicide mode. All the nannies off and 600 plus hp to rear wheels, drop of water and YIKES.

I drive in 4WD with sport plus on all three, MDM mode.

4wd sport mdm will let you get some rotation, but usually it pulls you through. Unless it's wet and cold. When it's cold and wet even in 4wd efficient traction control on it will slip on you. I almost went into a curb recently with a little dab of throttle in efficient 4wd etc.

I had an unexpected moment, whist in 4wd sport/MDM, one cold damp evening, rounding some twisting uphill turns, where the back end, swung quite a way around. Obviously with my cat like reactions, and ungodly driving skills, i caught said slide, kept my foot in with the 4wd, and then accelerated away like a scalded cat. My wife was not best pleased.
But it did open my eyes as to how the car can still let go unexpectedly in 4wdspoer/MDM, if you are not aware of it.

Always on 4wd sport /MDM. Otherwise traction control is very intrusive.

The 2WD Suicide Mode takes me back to the two F10 M5's I owned and the many "close" calls I had in those cars ...

Yeah, I love how this car is so many cars in one, and gives you options. It’s a real triumph of engineering.

I did this in my F80 in Sport+ the first time I drove it with cold tires in very light rain. I think I had had it for like 1.5 weeks at that point. Pulled out of a parking lot onto the highway aggressively.

Guessing it was the cold tires plus a tiny bit of water on the road.

Welcome to the club!

Thanks fellas... I totally agree with you....I think the temp was low and there was light rain....I guess the violence of it is what got to me more than the fact that it slid...
