Your dealer sounds kinda shady... Do you think they knew?

Why before the 11th? The BMWCCA money is once per calendar year not once every 12 months

I let my membership lapse (my fault). You need to have an active membership for 6 months prior to delivery if you buy a 3 year term. I renewed it May 11th of this year.

Fingers crossed it gets sorted quick and you get your car. They should do something for you! It involves a lot of cars.
Dealer did right thing. Got me brand new X5 loaner and canceled my sale contract and will rewrite when fix it ready and stop sale is removed - hopefully just an inspection or small fix. I want to pick my car up this week! Come on BMW eng/safety team - high priority

Dealer advised today that no update from BMW on fix or timing. My buddy is out driving around in his 2020 X5M which falls under this notice. Must be really dangerous issue for them to jeopardize all these showroom sales while thousands of cars under this stop sale notice drive around freely. Told my dealer if they can’t deliver this week, I’ll take my 120K worth of business elsewhere. What a joke.

Same answer from my CA. A few hours ago he said he was waiting to hear back from the service manager. Nothing since.

I dunno if I feel *that* upset about it. I just wish there was some sort of explanation that would give us a sense of ETA. That’s where they could be doing a little bit better, but it’s also less than a calendar week in.

take it easy guys , all companies have problems
BMW will fix it and you will be happy
My F10 M5 had some kind of delay for two weeks , the dealer gave me a one day pass to M School, and this is a 1500 dollar value ...
most likely your dealer will throw something your way if delay is couple of weeks

Yeah, and to be fair, the approach BMW is taking (stop sale on unsold cars, but no adverse action yet for sold cars) is likely a consequence of regulation rather than policy.

I imagine no manufacturer is allowed to (or is comfortable with) knowingly selling a car with an "emissions" issue, particularly after Diesel Gate.

I was literally with the SA and he was walking me through the car while F&I was getting the papers ready... when SA got a phone call from the Manager. In the time that the car was delivered from the port of Baltimore to the dealership - just one day - BMW has issued a stop-sale on all 5ers and some additional models for some sort of emissions issue with the fuel tank. The information was murky on the stop-sale order presumably because BMW is not yet sure what the root cause or fix is. So I couldn't buy the car tonight. I have to wait till BMW gives further instructions to the dealer on what the fix is... hopefully it's programming and not a new part we have to wait for, or worse, engineered.

Others who are picking up their cars and haven't yet, be forewarned! And if anyone has more information, please post up here...

Yes, Unfortunately I just got the same news too. I noticed it has been stuck at the port for a couple of weeks, so I called BMW Genius and got the news on the stop sale (tank ventilator) and CA confirmed it with no estimated fix date.

Fyi, mine is also a MBB Competition (with Silverstone). Love this color! Hopefully it gets resolved soon and we can get our deliveries before year end. Argh!

Disappointing! If this is going to take months, I may reconsider things. Hopefully it won't come to that.

Months isn't going to work for me. I can deal with a few weeks, as long as they provide some additional information and regular updates. As was mentioned before, I would think it's more a regulatory issue than immediate safety concern or a recall would have done in conjunction.

I don't know much (or anything) about the fuel tank vents on these vehicles, but I would have thought that it would be common equipment across most of the series lineups (except diesels). Wouldn't all the 5 series share the same vent equipment? I doubt there is a difference in fuel tanks between the M550i (for example) and the M5. Same with the X's. Yet, it's only the full M's that are flagged.

The optimist in me has me hoping/thinking it will be a software fix, and not waiting on a design solution and parts.

I can't imagine what the dealers are going through. People spending this much money on a vehicle I would think tend to be a little more demanding and impatient than someone spending $20k, but I may be wrong.

Also, does anyone have current access to the bulletin? Has it been updated at all?

My VIN was just run and is tagged by the stop sale. It shows as an open campaign but no fix available.

I haven't heard anything yet. Just pinged my SA and if anything new is conveyed I'll post up here.

I did tell him I want a loaner. Will be interesting to see how he (his sales manager) responds.
