I would go for the 2021, looks better and many people have attested that it feels faster.

Without a doubt, for my money, the ‘21. Besides the cosmetic improvements (which I think are worthy, alone), there are apparent performance improvements, as well.

The upgraded transmission hardware alone is worth the price of admission imho.

I was going to do the same next year and get a used one to replace my F80, but the LCIs (and even some 09/19 and on pre-LCIs) are just too good. They honestly did a great job with it. I think it's the best Bimmer anyone can buy right now (M550 LCI is shockingly great too tbh).

The upgraded transmission came in the 20s as far as I know.

The LCI looks would be enough for me, though.

They started with the late 2019s, but I (maybe wrongly) assumed OP meant pre-LCI vs LCI.

Ah. I had a 19 and then a 20 back to back and the difference was measurable with my butt Dragy (there's a collection of words I'd bet have never been uttered/written before).

If you plan on tuning the 2021 like the one I just purchased, you might want to reconsider. BMW has blocked out aftermarket tuning. If I would have known it, I would have opted for the 2020. Just didn’t do my homework.
