F90 not making full power
Last night around 3am kn my way home from work I decided to rip the car a bit on the highway, long story short with dsc completely off the car in sport + the boost gauge didnt go past 15lbs of boost and the horsepower gauge was reading below 480. And now it feels sluggish temps were about 70f outside.
Anyone experienced this before? The cars completely stock with no trouble codes/ check engine light |

i scanned the codes with obdlink nothing came up, however i took the car for a few laps on the highway to burn some gas, after about 40 miles it was still the same, so i filled up shell 91 and to my surprise after about 15 miles the car started to feel normal again the horsepower gauge went from under 480 to just below 640 doing some heavy pulls

This has been happening to me too. 2019 M5comp. 0-100 times pretty bad.
Not sure what's wrong, no lights on or anything. I feel there might be a bog from 1st to 2nd. No tune in the winter, with winters and wet ground, managed 3.88 0-100 After tune, OTS 91 BM3 stage 1 - 3.6-4.5s 0-100. ( did a few launches ) Thought the tune was bad, so I took the tune off. No tune on summers ( brand new PS4S ) 0-100 3.5s. Put the tune back on last week, 0-100 3.47s. I thought it was fuel before, but I've been through a few tanks with same results. Reading around, it might be the high and low pressure fuel pump issues, since my car sounds like it's about to die during some startups. |

Nope, cold start is on. Only thing I've touched for the tune are the burble settings. You're right about the dip in RPM is during warm starts . Cold starts don't seem to have this problem. The reason I think it's not tune related is because my friend also has a '19 M5C completely stock and does the same. Sometimes his is even worse as the engine will stall completely and need to restart. He never brought the car in for it so not sure what the dealer is gonna say about mine. |

Computer is pulling power. The reason may be sophisticated. First troubleshooting step to me is to return EVERYTHING to stock and see if it goes away.

my cars a 21 lci so it isnt tuned, but i think i figured out the issue, my mechanic plugged in a external ethanol sensor and my ethanol content was close to e60 so we burnt all the gas in the tank and filled up fresh 91 and it seems like its back to normal

Glad you got yours figured out. I did some random pulls tonight and even with tune, the HP gauge only going up to like 400 something.

I had limited power issue on my 19'M5 for over a week. Then the problem went away on it's own (I did fill up with different gas before the problem cleared up). There was no CEL or messages. What scan tool do you guys use/recommend?

Anyone get this figured out?
I have a M8 GC Comp which is basically the same as the M5 F90 and I'm having the same issue. Car drops boost at high RPM's. Logged it with an Autel scan tool and sure enough it goes from 20psi to 14-15 psi at high RPM. More noticeable on 4th and 5th gear. 5th gear does not go a pound over 16psi the entire pull. I got new Dinan Coil Packs, NGK plugs, Re-fueled elsewhere with 93, have tried 3 gallons of E85 for E20 mix and still no luck with the car dropping boost. |

I got a subjective (nothing measured) loss of power with my '22 LCI M5. I suspect also that it is coming from poor quality gas: i filled up always with 98 octanes (the top grade in Europe with 5 % ethanol) but this time low cost... I will see if power comes back when I will empty the tank and fill it up with premium brand. I hope that the filter has not been clogged...

Check your intercooler coolant tank to see if you are low. I noticed the same on my X5M after the dealer forgot to refill my coolant and the car would pull power. very noticable if you are on it and its upshifting. Feels like the power just hits a wall. Sure enough when i checked the tank it was empty! Ever since i refilled/bleed the system the power is back to normal.
