You will see a "Work Order Completed" followed by a "Released to Carrier". Looks like the final step is "Delivered from VPC", which I'm assuming means the dealer has it.

Mine is now on a joyride. The Vessel Bishu Highway was at the Nova Scotia port entrance on Monday, then just turned north and sailed to the northern end and shut the engine off. Just floating around for fun !

Very exciting. Didn't see the other thread where people are picking them up. Looks awesome all blacked out.
I can't get down and get mine until Friday. But will enjoy the photos of all the other deliveries. |

My New Mexico dealer gave me a HEA allocation for a 2019 X5. The X5 was made 2 weeks ahead of schedule and shipped by rail to the Oxnard VPC. There it sits, placed on hold for "engineering data and release." These holds appear to be for EPA certification and a "drive and tell" event for the automotive media. EPA has yet to report the new X5's mpg, and the media event has been announced to take place in Atlanta. One reporter posted on September 12 that he was headed for the Atlanta event. One wonders why BMW has waited for so long. For BMW dealers and customers, this roll out has not been handled well. There's more and up-to-date information on automotive websites than BMW's own press pages. Too, in tracking my BMW, I discovered conflicting information among the MyGarage site, BMW geniuses, and Norfolk Southern railroad who shipped the X5. MyGarage reported the X5 at the port when it hadn't yet arrived, and BMW geniuses still report it will arrive September 23 (it arrived September 14, according to excellent tracking by Norfolk Southern since my dealer gave me the bill of lading number.) My local dealer called the Oxnard VPC manager, who said he had the vehicle, that it was ready to ship to the dealer, but was waiting on the holds to be lifted. My dealer guessed that would be in a few weeks -- and I will be the first in my state to own one. I want to add here that I'm not in favor of the "drip drip" method of promoting new vehicles: concepts, camouflaged sightings, options promoted and not furnished, too many first looks and reveals and slick videos, and so forth. My father talked of a better time in the 50s and 60s. New vehicles, never before seen, were trucked across the country encased in heavy no-see-through plastic to dealers. The dealers covered their show windows in newsprint, with signs announcing the date of the unveiling. In September, customers moved from dealer to dealer to see the new cars -- which in those days changed dramatically in appearance from year to year. It was an annual fall ritual that focused on the dealer. |

Hope this is the right place to post.
My dealer just told me my car is on a boat. But doesn't know what boat. How can I find out the name of the boat so I can track it ?

Do you have a phone number ?
My dealer just said "this looks to be the one that matches up, the Glovis Companion". But that sounds like more of a guess.

That's unfortunate. I would just bypass the dealer and call the Genius line @ 844-443-6487. If you have your production or VIN number they can tell you what vessel you're on. That's what I did. Good luck!
