BMW Performance Intake for the 135i
I am now authorized to inform the public about the BMW Performance Intake for the 135i. Unfortunately, (as I've known for a while) it will not be released. They are not planning a intake, as the tests they have done on the intake have actually decreased the horsepower. Dyno runs just after starting the car (15 minute window) showed a increase in power, while runs when the car had been running for a while showed decrease in power.
This directly involves the BMW Performance strut brace, as it does not fit over the current stock air box. The strut brace will only be available for the 128i, since an intake will be available for the 128i. There is currently no solution is progress to fix this issue. Those of you with Dual-Cone intakes can feel free to purchase the strut brace but with caution as I do not know whether it will fit over it or not.

It's no secret that bmw is not looking to make a louder turbo sound. The aftermarket option are always better at making power anyways. Riss Racing is about to have a nice intake anyways. |

The main reason to buy aftermarket intake is for the air sucking sounds.. not a few hp. I'll stick with the stock setup.

Maybe open element cold air intakes suck in more hot air on a dyno than they would driving at speed on a road. Either way, I don't believe bmw ever worked on a cold air intake (with exposed filter). It depends on how they position the fans.

Are you sure it's a problem? The car somes with a strut bace, even though it doesn't go straight across like the performance catalog item. The aftermarket air filter setups only see a few measly hp.
