Holset tested his and did 10.74 for 1/4 mile which is quite a bit far off from a 911 turbo s; so not sure where "it is pretty close to a stock lci comp" is coming from; to bring a 1/4 mile down from 10.74 to 10.02 ... requires a lot of weight shedding, tuning, and bolt on's.

The OP’s friend has a 2018 991.2 911 Turbo S. Car and Driver tested one at 10.7 at 130 in the quarter:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.car...y-the-numbers/ C and D tested a 2018 M5 that did 10.9 at 129. The two cars are close enough that a lightly modded M5 should equal or best a stock 911 Turbo S. https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...5-test-review/ I agree the 992 911 Turbo S is in a different league and an M5 would need all the mods to equal or beat a stock 911 Turbo S. Also worth considering that the 991 era 911 Turbo can be modded to the point that the modded M5 would need a built motor to keep up. I nearly bought one earlier this year instead of an M5 and had my list of $15k in mods that would put the car in the high 9 second range in the mid 140s. Maybe later; right now I need the more practical car and can’t have both. |

This is why I said boring to the 2018… the new ones are a different animal….
The new gen is more than 640hp to send it at 10.1… underrated for sure. The M5 CS should keep up to an ‘18.. |

Here are some actual Dragy numbers from my 2018 bone stock M5 and my 2019 bone stock 911 Turbo S on the same “track” both at 3500ish DA to give you an actual comparison of times at a “bad” July summer DA.

If u have good DA and a good surface with warm tires the 2018 911 turbo s can get 10.2s mate, I think that if I get the HCP Custom tune (825 HP and 1000NM) I can keep up with a 10.2 car even at 4300 lbs

Any cars in the low 10s or 9s have downpipes. I’m not sure if push these cars very hard with cats.. exhaust temps under big boost must be up there and dangerous levels for the cats. This is why the ecu throws extra fuel when you get into 4-5gear and high speeds… catalyist cooling…
I know Steve Dinan said they only got 20hp or so from cats being removed, but I think that was a conservative tune…. |
