Steve Dinan talking about the F90 and other good stuff
Some cool things at 20 min in, taking about tuning, map sensors and piggie back tunes etc..
I'm surely interesting in running their map sensor and tuning!! Last edited by brad65ford; 10-06-2021 at 11:45 AM.. |

he makes it clear that beyond that its pointless he has stage 3 soft ware without downpipes or e85 on race gas 100 octane with intercoolers and heat exchangers making 885 hp which is beyond amazing to me

885 rwhp or crank hp? 885 crank hp might be 750 rwhp on a Dynojet in SAE. Probably most of the cars trapping 135 are around 700 rwhp. The few doing closer to 140 must be making 750 rwhp or 885 crank

I like this Steven Dinan... What he says makes sense and I would agree to a lot of it.
I would love to know more about these ECU's. What a good pod cast. I didn't know Carbahn makes built engines, does anyone run these? I haven't heard of anyone on here or draggy? Gets better the longer you watch this... so much info, love it. Last edited by AngryInch; 10-07-2021 at 09:22 PM.. |

I haven’t seen a single person with their tune… let alone the engine… they seem to be like Weistec is to AMG… however, everyone was running weistec stuff online, all the fastest guys..

Watching this video is what made me finally decide on tuning my f90. I popped the motor in my f10 and told myself I would only go Racechip on the f90. Got the itch and started doing research. Carbahn seems to be the only one who does oem level tuning where they look at the whole ecu and not just certain tables. Plus their software is part of a comprehensive assortment of hardware you don't really see offered elsewhere. Heat is the enemy and they seems to be the only one actually addressing it.
Now in Hawaii we only have 92 and off the shelf octane boosters so how much total power I will get out of it I do not know. I'm more after a complete package anyhow and if the level of integration and smarts in this tune is half of what he says it is I will have accomplished my goal. |

Has the Evolve tune let you down or are you thinking maybe Evolve tune their cars in exactly the way Steve Dinan says most do by taking an off the shelf product and taking bits of this and that etc? Interested to hear your thoughts.

So with that I got a stage 1 Evolve tune with tcu and I like it, I was expecting more for the money but understand that volume pricing matters and the Ole "M" tax is real. Also going from 600 hp to 660 or whatever is advertised probably is a lot harder than 450‐600. I do plan on going stage 2 eventually but I wanted to live with each stage before progressing so I don't get bored with the car. I have faith that Evolve is doing it the right way I have no reason to believe otherwise given their extensive tests on their own vehicles as well. As an engineer in my experience if people can explain complex things simply it shows a mastery of the topic and for better or worse, I tend to trust those people if what they are saying jives with my understanding of the world. I think Steve did a very good job of doing this in the interview acting as a salesman for his company, and while doing so the generic comment he made about copy pasting and moving the limits around and not naming names he is really throwing a shadow on everyone else because how are we to know. We can ask but the tuner does not have to tell us the truth. This is really the deep dive into my reason for the comment above. |
