What is your favorite car brand (beyond BMW), and why?

Curious to hear thoughts on this. Mine isn't something upscale like Porsche, etc...mine is Acura. Just have amazing memories with an Integra Type R and Acura TL Type S I used to own ages ago...

Audi and Porsche. I have a historical affinity for Honda as well, but that stops at mid-90's vehicles.

Ferrari.

I have loved Ferrari ever since I was a kid. Just something about the exclusivity, the passion, the no-nonsense attitude. I've never been a big fan of Lamborghini because I felt they always leaned heavily on the flair and show-offy side of things. You drive a Lambo because you want to be seen. You drive a Ferrari because you appreciate the art and the engineering. And that has always appealed to me.

Shame about their recent F1 struggles (brought on by themselves). But that hasn't deterred my love for the brand.

I have a life-long goal of owning a Ferrari (responsibly... without sacrificing my kid's education fund or my retirement ) I even have an investment account dedicated to one day purchasing one. Just 10 more years of contributions to go...

I don't have a favorite, and jump around different companies depending on what's offered and what I'm interested in.

But if there was a brand that I consistently find myself returning to the showroom to check out a new model whether I buy it or not, it's Audi. Between the R8, S5 sportback, RS5 sportback, RS3, RS6 Avant, and even the RS e-tron GT, I have wanted them all at some point. I've personally only purchased a gen 1 R8 and B8.5 S4, but have been very close to buying many of the other cars mentioned before backing down for one reason or another, but mainly because I just don't need them.

I haven't really gotten that from any other manufacturer, at least not nearly as consistently. Porsche, BMW, and MB/AMG don't really do much for me, and anything above that is more than I'm willing to spend on a car. I'd rather admire from afar.

No idea why but both Audi and Mercedes, they make nothing that so much raises an eyebrow other than the audi wagons.

I've always had a thing for Alfas, just found them very tossable when i was young.

Porsche for obvious reasons.

For non-premium brands, Ford for being the only domestic brand even trying to innovate, even if they do fail sometimes.

I've always had a soft spot for older Hondas since I had 3 total when I first got into cars but this was in the early 90s. Nothing new from Honda impresses me unless it's the NSX.

I also love Mazdas, having owned a few Miatas and an MS3, they have been great to me and very easy to work on.

Porsche, my dream "attainable" car, my favorites being the 997.1 Turbo and GT3 (in Speed Yellow) along with the 981 Spyder.

Lost interest in them lately as prices have sailed, and quite frankly, I'm happier with 4 M cars that bring slightly different experiences than 1 super expensive car I'd rarely drive.

To be honest, it's hard for me to even say which car brand I'm interested in lately, just because I'm not super interested in the car industry like I used to be. There's just either nothing exciting, and certainly not interested in $3 million hyper car reveals every 3 months or whatever.

I've also always loved Lamborghini's growing up and the Diablo is one of my favorites. But nothing lately.

Weird honorable mentions: Not dream cars per se, but I'm a big fan of Toyota trucks and SUVs. Don't off road them or anything like that, but I just love the fact they are absolutely bulletproof.

As a brand in the far future definitely Porsche. Love the classy look of it & the performance is incredible. Also is not as flashy as a lambo or ferrari i'd prefer to fly a bit under the radar. (This is under the assumption that i'm successful enough to afford it lol)

Within the near future i'm hoping to get into a supra, I also love toyotas trucks.

Mazda, Lotus, and Porsche. Used to be more of a VW/Audi and BMW fan but am becoming less and less interested in their new cars, which have gotten really boring and generic (or too polarizing).

I've had a few other brands. Nissan GTR, Ferrari 458, Porsche GT3. Everyone offers something different and unique. Porsche is obviously an amazing brand and build some of the best drivers cars in the world currently. Ferrari gets you alot of drama, flair, and feeling of exclusivity. The GTR is an immensely capable machine that punched above its price point in terms of performance and doesn't care what the road conditions are.

All these supercar companies are starting to make compromises now though. Porsche didn't improve the new gt3 engine or lower the weight, they are turning to bigger wings and stiffer suspensions to get lap times. The RS cars are all automatic now too. Ferrari has gone turbo/hybrid and paddles for their mid engine sports cars. The 488, F8, and Sf90 are all clones of one another. Same with mclaren.

Currently I'm high on Toyota for still offering cars like the 86, gr yaris, and LC500. I'd also put lotus up there too for what they are offering with the Emira.

I still want a true late 60's muscle car. Fastback Mustang, Dodge Charger, Camaro. I like the C5 and C6 Corvettes as well.

I don't have a favorite, but I do quite like Porsche. The Carrera GTS I have is the best car I've owned in terms of value for the dollar. Buying in low definitely helps with that. I like Mazda quite a bit as well.

Porsche by far, I’ve come close to buying two 911s over the years (993/997) but couldn’t make it work. Maybe someday.

Definitely the early Acura’s were special. I couldn’t afford one but we had a few in the shop and they were very cool for the time.

For some reason, as I dont think it’s an especially attractive car. I’m really liking the Alpha Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. If I can find a used one at the right price it could be my next car.

My number 1 is of course BMW best cars I've ever owned and loved
2 is Acura as I had a Vigor 20yrs ago that was my number 1 for some time
3 is Mazda they have some great affordable drivers cars in the past, future i6 RWD talk has my ears perked as well.
4 is recent Porsche however have never liked them in the past, BMW not replacing the 2-series convertible and zero MT option anymore. 718 GTS 4.0 Cab is possible next top down purchase.
Honorable Mention VW has many times been the smart choice brand yet never owned, New Jetta vs used 3-series or New EOS vs used 1series or new mazda vs new VW, one of the best vehicles I've ever driven was a 04' Jetta MT VR6 yet VW always comes in 2nd

Porsche for sure. Self-explanatory. My dad has a Macan S and even that got me hooked to the way their cars drive. I've driven the Cayman a couple times and it was magnificent. Can only imagine a 911.

Alfa Romeo is another. At first I didn't think much of them but their [two] cars drive beautifully. They are engaging to drive at any speed. I have not driven any car that steers so quickly. These are street legal go-karts. However Alfas come with their downsides. Porsche is without a doubt a cut above in their powertrain, build quality, reliability metrics etc.

Ferrari is the only exotic manufacturer I feel an emotional draw to, but they are mostly out of reach. Maybe I'll be able to buy a used one someday.

Do yourself a favor and take one for a test drive. I'd recommend 2020+ models.
