Noelle Performance tune

Hey all,

I'm curious if anyone is running a Noelle Performance tune? There are a few other BMW platforms running their tune however I haven't heard about them from any F90 M5 owners. I called a few shops in my area Bavarian being one of them and all he said is Noelle Performance look em up. I asked about Dinan and he himed and hawed.

They claim 850hp and a warranty. That seems like a serious number.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

I read your post in my JB4 thread on the way home and was planning on asking about this also. 850hp seems unlikely. I also haven't heard of them and wonder how well they pay out with the warranty.

Read the fine print on their website about the warranty. They are expensive compared to other tunes but if you live close enough to an authorized installer it could be worth the money.

Dinan has the same thing and I've read of people having issues getting them to pay out. The 850hp number seems like a joke. Isn't the DME stage 3 with downpipes only an advertised 800hp? No one is anywhere near that number from just a tune. If they are getting 850hp and the warranty is legit, I'd gladly pay twice what they are asking and order it immediately.

Agreed on paying the price! But if you look at their site there are just a few locations in the US meaning it looks like a long haul to begin the warranty process. Peace of mind has no price tag, I paid the Dinan premium for half the gains (compared to OBD tunes) for that. I also want to say I read Dinan ante'd up on an M3 motor or an F10 M5 replacement recently.

If companies can afford to offer warranty, this means that people are not having warranty problems with tuned cars.
This is a sign that its a gimmick

I just talked to one of their two local installers. They said the 850hp figure was with 93 octane (still very hard to believe). But the tuner Karl-Otto Noelle was a part of Alpina's development team and Dinan apparently reached out to him recently but he decided to start his own shop.

Can you even ECU flash a leased car? Or will it be flagged/you get in big trouble at turn in? If you can do it, I may just go ahead and give it a shot for the warranty, expecting 700-725hp. $3,700 is steep though!

of course, you can flash a leased car. Just don't get flagged lol! downpipes are a no no. Ron mentioned it's best to do your own oil changes every 5k w/ liquid Moly 10/60 and disregard the cheaper free oil the dealerships provide. Another thing Ron said was only the guys in Germany BMW can see the tuned ECU, NOT the local dealerships. interesting comment that i questioned in my head but hey, i have to give them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. There is only one other board member running a 2 series that is happy w/ his Noelle tune. ill reach out.

The warranty sounds good but w/ such a new company at least here in the US...it's probably not worth the paper it's printed on. However, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. If something small happens, let's see if my local shop handles it? Once something big happens like a blown engine (hopefully doesn't happen), you'll see how quickly the finger is pointed at something other than a tune. "um your car ingested a nail from a construction site and that made it's weight into xyz and then caused detonation in zyq...sorry no coverage. I deal with a LLLLLot of insurance companies in my business. Trust me!!!!!

Yeah, I got Geicos Mechanical Breakdown Insurance also, which has covered Audi's/BMW's in the past for engines blown from tunes. However, I wouldn't put it past them to put up fight on paying out 60k for an M5 engine.

I spoke with Ron from Noells for Half hour today. Yeah his guy I guess built alpina and was told their work does not interfere with factory warranty( I think he meant they honor same as Dinan does), but that you
A) have to bring your car to them to get tuned
B) bring your car there if there is an issue. Closest one to me is 1000 miles so told him that ruins it for me.
But spoke about how our cars read on dyno's compared to engine dyno's. He seemed knowledgeable, had a lot of insight and was great to speak to. I guess time will tell in the long run. I'd give it a try if he was in the same state as me. Flat bedding my car to Georgia is not going to happen.

That sucks, 1000 miles is a long way. I'm lucky and have 2 within 25 miles.

Noelle Performance Vs Dinan Stage One 2018-M240i Coupe

I bought my M240i brand new in Jan 2018 and immediately had a variety of Dinan add-on's that included a Stage One Tune. I enjoyed the added performance and smooth ride the Dinan delivered.

Then, after 18 months, I removed the Dinan Stage One and had the Noelle Performance software loaded.

Outrageous! The raw torque and HP that the car has now is breathtaking. An order of magnitude increase over my Dinan Stage One.
It's a whopping $1799.00 installed but it's worth every penny.

The Noelle software can be run without altering the cars warranty and is California SMOG compliant.. Let's hope it's as reliable as Dinan.

BMW does not care which brand of aftermarket tune you use, its all the same to them.

This tune might alter the warranty just as much as a Jb4, difference is the manufacturer claims to cover the work for free.

As i mentioned above, if this happens on regular basis tuning companies would go bankrupt.

With all due respect to Noelle tuning, their tune might be great ( i dont know since never tested it) but the warranty thing is a form of advertisement.

Have you posted about said tune anywhere else? I did see a gentleman who was very happy w/ his tune over on the 2 series board. Is that you?

Do you buy stuff off eBay with someone w/ 0 rating?

And btw, our tune is double the cost when compared to yours....not cheap

I talked to a local dealership today and they said I could try the tune for 7 days and get a refund. They want to use it as a demo car/tune it on a dyno and see what numbers they get with 91 octane. However, even with the 7 day trial, my warranty would be gone.

The JB4 has some big benefits. Obviously with a flash, it's for 91 octane and you can't ever take advantage of higher octane fuel. And turning the boost down for first/second gear seems to be the only good way to get the car off the line. Also it costs 1/5th as much! The tune is 3,700, then they want 300 to install it/tune it. Seems a little weird, but maybe that's normal?

HMMMM? Noelle has been around providing performance parts for the M cars ever since I started modding with my E60 M5. Read up a lot on his history and such and has always provided reliable parts for the M5 platform. Tremendous resource for all types of mod parts for the M. Just my .02.
