Hope question isn't dumb,
But I'm about to hav resonator deleted and shop only offered STRAIGHT PIPE and doesn't have a mandrel but has lots of already bent pipes per his report,

Thanks

What is your question? Whether X pipe or straight pipe is better? I suspect you'll get different opinions from members on this board. I've read some articles that say X or H pipe is the way to go...other articles said straight pipes is better. I think the main point in your decision is that the resonator will be removed. As long as the shop you are using is able to do the work properly and install straight pipes, I'd say you're good to go.

We me clarify
Is there any torque loss? Or turbo issues? With Straight vs X Pipe? What's the difference
Thanks

I'm not aware of any torque loss between the 2 options...but I'll defer to others on this board that have more experience with exhaust mods. It does seem, however, that most of the aftermarket exhausts that I've seen (akra, eisenmann, etc.) are straight pipes...and I'd assume they wouldn't be designed that way if there was torque loss involved.

Straight pipes might drone due to pulse resonance.

That's why I posted this question here, because I don't know enough and thank you so much for chiming in, I just told the shop there's no way I am straight piping it knowing what you just said! And it got complicated and pushed a little further after Monday but that's fine,

One more thing,
Does it have 1 or 2 resonators ?

I told him to delete the front resonator?

Ive driven and sat in the straight pipe car; its fine but then again sound is subjective. I didnt notice drone but remember that too is subjective. What one deems is drone, another may deem exhaust roar LOL. The resonator is a sound piece and you wont lose power.

Update:
Shop agreed to do a magnaflo X pipe instead of the front resonator and when I discussed it with them need for Mandrel, they said it's possible without it a little bit more difficult but they get their pipes bent from the get go or in other words from manufacturer

Does that make sense,
So I'm going with X pipe because the consensus seems that the X pipe is the way to go correct me if I'm wrong

Yes, x pipe is way to go
You can bend the pipe without mandrel bender. Fill the pipe with sand and heat it with torch.
To keep the pipe diameter same. But you also change the color off the pipe and annealed it.

I personally for the exhaust would use mandrel bender.

Best way if they do not have a mandrel bender is for them to purchase mandrel bent sections and piece it together. That method is commonly used.
