Aftermarket steel brake pads
I'm looking for aftermarket pads that simply dust less than the stockers. I already know about Porterfields and I'm on the verge of getting them and trying them out, but I was just wondering are there any other brands out there? Thanks

I was in the same spot and decided to go with Racing Brake pads. Sounds like similar low dust/noise as Porterfields and no fitment/install issues reported. Haven't had a chance to install yet so will report back once they're on.

Just out of curiosity, how long do the stock rotors generally last? When I purchased the car the finance guy tried to tell me that I would need rotors "soon" when he was trying to sell me a maintenance plan. My car has 32k on the odo so that seemed pretty early.

The dealer will want to replace pads and rotors as a set. That's about $2000. A bit much. I do pads only, but I track regularly, and can do them myself (it's a little harder than the regular old brakes, but not impossible) Wait till the pads get low (the sensors will tell you when) and then decide if you will go against the advice of doing rotors and pads together. It's up to you, honestly, unless the rotors are below minimum thickness, then it's not safe to do just pads. Shawn |
