Rim Rash!
I just hit the curb on a tight spot. Minor damage but I can't stand looking at it. Does anyone know if I can get a touch up kit for the wheel or am I going to be stuck paying $1200 for a new wheel. If anyone knows the paint code for the wheel? If so where can I get it?If anyone could help I would appreciate it so much! Help!!

https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/curb...0aFy6B2Q1vsPow I talked to the lady with the m4 wheel who had it done and she said he had him do hers twice and she was happy with it. I called the repair guy and he said it won't look perfect, it may appear a bit lighter on the edge but you would have to look close to see it. The example pictures on the m4 wheel look good to me... Also my dealer says they have someone who does it. If I am not happy perhaps I will try that. |

Sucks to hear this happened but you're better off ordering a new wheel.
Touch up/refinish wheel places will never get the wheel to look stock again. I had a wheel scratched by Discount Tire putting on a new tire and they sent the wheel off to get fixed. They tried the first time, looked like 4 year old used spray paint to fix it. They tried again, still looked like poop so i had them buy me a new wheel. |

Or you can powered coat all of your wheels black which IMO would look awesome and cost the same if not less than buying one new wheel. If you ever curb one again you just need to get that one wheel coated again. This is subjective of course.

Supposedly the factory M wheels use a different shade of silver. When my car was brand new the dealer run it through their car wash (without me knowing) and they scraped the rear driver side wheel. I had not even driven the car yet . Anyway, they took it to their technician which has a setup shop behind the dealership and he fixed it perfectly. I met the guy and he told me the trick is to much the M silver by mixing 2 different silver paints. Obviously he had done it many times and to this day I cannot tell where it was repaired. The dealership manager offered to order me a new wheel if it was not fix to my satisfaction, but it was not necessary after it was fixed.

http://www.awrswheelrepair.com/philly/requestinfo He is a super nice guy with very reasonable prices. His name has come up on these forums numerous times. Not sure where in Jersey you are located. His shop is near Manayunk, a suburb of Philadelphia. For my wheel, he had it for almost two weeks. Couldn't get it to look up to his standards. He sent it out to his main shop (in NY I believe). I am 90% satisfied with the work. You know the old saying "no one would be able to tell, except for you". This is true in my case. We'll see how it holds up over time. He ended up charging me $175. Well worth it IMO Hope this helps.. -c

I have also had one rim repaired. Realistically it is never going to be perfect because it is not possible to exactly replicate the so called 'diamond cut' on the polished edge. However with just a small amount of pad and weather dust after a couple of days driving around it is pretty hard to see the imperfections.

+1 on having dealer's guy do it. Mine were fixed and looked literally brand new for a tiny amount of money. Not worth messing around with it yourself. By the time you buy all the crap you need, do it, it's not going to be perfect and you're really not saving any money.

I am in the same situation, knowing that a repair isn't likely to be perfect I broke down and ordered a new wheel, $800 shipped so not cheap but I paid 58k for the car and the idea of driving it around looking beat up doesn't work for me. Apparently there is a guy in LA who is an artist and can fix these perfectly so next time I am in the LA area I will just bring my damaged wheel along and have him do it. I am sure there are others that can fix it but from all I have read the repair guys are a bit hit and miss as only a few have figured out how to get the tint for the clear proper.

A rim guy look at mine and recommended leaving it alone.
There's a tinted clear coat that is very hard to match. Last edited by omasou; 02-03-2017 at 10:18 AM.. |

Wife kissed a curb within 5 seconds behind the wheel for the first time. Quite depressing.

That's why I never plan on using the stock wheels. It is only a matter of time before you curb them. I run 513m's Ferric Grey 2 paint code you can touch up with a $24 spray can and some JB weld. I know sometimes it is hard to justify doing the work yourself but once you have done it once you become really good at it.

You can easily have them refinished and repainted. No sense in buying a brand new wheel. I've had mine repaired twice already. They came out good as new.

Unfortunately also just scratched my OG M2 rim on the outer grey segment, anyone know the paint code in which I should use? I'm based in Australia so shipping there would be ideal!

As far as I know touching up is just not an option since the wheels use tinted clear coat. The whole wheel will have to be painted. I just paid $150 for someone with experience to do it, seemed like too much work. Most rim repair places will be able to match the silver without having paint code. |
