Question about Service Inspection Notification and Loaner Info.

Hi,

I have a E90 325i with 4650 miles on it. I bought it in December '05.

The service notification light came on this morning. The message says that a "Service Inspection" is required. I am not quite sure why it needs an inspection after 4600 miles. Anyone had an experience with that? Will the dealer just do a quick inspection and reset the notification or how is it going to work?

Anyways, I called the dealer today and scheduled an appointment for Wednesday. I also requested for a loaner. Now when they give you a loaner car or a rental car, do they require you to have insurance in your name? I'm asking because the BMW (and insurance) is on my sister's name. My name is not included in the insurance. So I am not sure if they will verify all that information before giving me a loaner. Can someone advice me on that?

Not sure why you have to take it in so early. Did you sister co-sign the loan for you? My only experience at the BMW service center is that they just ask for they keys and you wait for it. The loaner car might be a different issue. I'm sure your name will come up but don't know how that will affect you. Might want to have your sister call the service center and tell them that you will be dropping it off and to get a loaner or rental. It would sucj you get down there and they won't give you anything and you are stranded or take the car back and have your sister take it in. Interesting..

So you are just driving it but in reality your sister is the one that actually owns it. Who makes the payments?

I make the payments but the car is on her name and is insured under her name. Had to do it because I'm 20 years old and the insurance was really high if I was to be one of the co-signatories on the car.

I can understand that. Look up and send a PM to some of the other members that are from Cali and see what they say. Its almost like a stranger bringing it in if you know what I mean. I just don't know if they would give you a loaner or rental with that assumption.

I just had my car in for service & got a loaner.
They will ask who's your insurance company & you have to show your Lic.
If your lic doesn't match up to owner of car doubt u will get the loaner?
You have to also sign papers for loaner.
If your Sister gets loaner & something happans, someone is in big trouble?

Nothing like a little insurance fraud, eh? Hope you realize, if you are ever involved in an accident of any significance, what the outcome will be.

He just needs to make sure he is on her policy and that will be ok.

as long as his name is on the policy, I don't think it's fraud.
