Yes, buying the rods is the cheap part. Engine out disassembly required. I’d probably just buy a built long block from Carbahn for $20k and install it myself. I can handle that but disassembling and reassembling the motor would be a challenge since I am just a DIYer and this is a pretty complex motor.

The rods for the TU3 and TU4 engine are the same. It’s the only part that inside the engine that is the same.

Of course this is not designed for end user install.

Hi Mate,

Will these work with a December build 2022 x5m Comp.

If they do, may I please have pricing for these delivered to Australia.

These rods are a direct replacement for BMW part numbers 1124782246 & 11247843237.

If you are unsure email the last 7 digits of your VIN to sales@evolveautomotive.com and one of my team can advise.

If your idea of bolt in is to pull the engine, remove the heads, fully disassemble the bottom end, reassemble the bottom end, reinstall the heads, reinstall the motor. You are not far off a full bottom end rebuild at that point. The shop Evolve uses charges about $20k USD for this work, but that may include new pistons — if you are in that deep it makes sense.

We are now offering the rods on their own:

https://www.evolveautomotive.com/pro...29fdc653&_ss=r

and also as a package with

Mr Vanos Arrow connecting rods
Mahle rod bearing shells
Mr Vanos Head studs
Mr Vanos Custom head gaskets

https://www.evolveautomotive.com/pro...5373e900&_ss=r

The above pacakage is what we have in the Evolve F90 M5 as well as any customer builds we have carried out in the last year.

Why would someone pull the motor out and only replace the rods for $17K???

Engine is open do it right with forged pistons and rods.

The M5 tax is apparent for this price.

How long are those engines done right with forged pistons and lots of other parts changed lasting?

My experience when modding vehicles is failure comes and breaks the weakest link/part.

Yes you can upgrade rods but then you run risk of cracking a piston. This is of course tune dependent.

Motor is out I would personally do them both.
