Little late for that since it may have already been screwed up😂 (by a bmw dealer no less) just funny how I'm getting different answers. It's gonna be interesting to see what corporate has to say about it.

I doubt over filling will hurt anything but the garage floor. There is a vent on it so the excess will escape.

But they need to get their collective story straight.

Of course the easy answer is to have the capacity in the owners manual. That would require them to give a dam.

BMW technical writers can plant one my rear end, and not on the car.

Well... the owners manual says: "check ista for the latest and greatest on filling capacity. Oh the front diff is 600 ml though, don't fuck that one one up!"

And you buy ISTA from who? oh yes, black market copy. I have a copy but it was a pain in the ass to get. BMW needs to sell it on a friggen DVD. Or better included it with the $125000 car.

Well I was just being sarcastic like oh yeah we can't just tell you the fill capacity for the diff, that'd be a crime. But front diff? Oh no no no definitely 600 on that.

Ista is fairly easy to get, then you just have to upgrade the PSdZData which is also easy to find. Bmw does sell it on a DVD more or less... it just costs thousands of dollars a year for the license because it's considered official repair shop software. Mind you, if you're from Germany or eu and have a shop there you get a lot of the software they use and access to it for free, it's just in the usa you have to pay out the ass for it (even as a repair shop) I forget exactly what came for free, but I think it was ista TIS and OSS iirc it's been a while since my application for it was rejected😂

When you pay BMW $30 for 24 ISTA access it also includes the factory service manuals. They used to be a separate (and in my mind easier to use) website, but now they are integrated into the ISTA application. This means you need to do the multi GB install just to view the manuals even if you don't want to hook the car up. But the info is there and you can print to PDF. You can also print the function overviews which mostly quote the technical training manuals but there is some additional interesting stuff.

This is the official site:
https://bmwtechinfo.bmwgroup.com/

I bought this dongle which has worked for me so far on the F90 and G05:
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-kies-mot...s07-wifi-ad~k/
(using ethernet for ISTA, wifi/bluetooth for bimmercode/link).

I just got a third response from another dealer the diff takes 2.25 quarts🤯 can't make this shit up if I tried, head tech claims "bmw just uses that for the billing for warranty (in reference to my 1l remark), but really if you drain the diff it's 2.25 quarts" guess this is gonna be another one of those emails I write up and politely tell corporate to figure their shit out

Looks like in typically German fashion it is exactly 24 hours.

I've done afternoon to afternoon a couple times.
