But they can track all the work done on your car regardless of what dealership it was done at. It is all pretty well documented in their computer systems.

Don't worry about it, all BMW parts are 2yr/unlimited miles for warranty

I'm not worried about the parts. I'm worried about my dealership saying b/c it was not installed by BMW it adversely affected some other component that they will no longer warranty.

push comes to shove I'll make a lot of noise and bitch about them being BMW parts and threaten zeros on the survey. I'll be loud enough for other customers to hear it and be completely obnoxious if I have to. I love these cars but I hate the dealers, especially the local one where I get service done as the Car they sold me CPO (e46) and represented as never being painted when specifically asked had had the entire right side resprayed. I'd raise hell about that and the service department treatment in the showroom and drive customers out like I did when I went to have them value my e46 and tell me it was painted. If all that didn't work then I'd pay for it after all the trouble. Then I'd call the local news. I don't think it will even come to that, but that's what I am willing to do.

Ok, I'm a little slow. So just to recap: I can get a third party to install but I only get 2 yrs on parts not labor from BMW. If I go with BMW then its 2 yrs parts/labor. Correct?
But how does this affect other parts of my car for other warranty work (I have 3 yrs left)? How common is it for dealerships to pull a: "Well the reason your 3rd taillight cracked was because your BMW Perf Susp was installed by a third party..." ?

the third taillight and suspension have nothing to do with each other and I cannot see even the sketchiest dealer trying that one

Yeah, I know 3rd taillight is a stretch but it was the only example I could think of when writing.
I'm just worried that by saving a few hundred now won't cost me a thousand later on due to a grey area in the warranty.

yea, it's a legitimate concern and the only way to be 100% on it is to to the dealer install. that said- the way the press release sounds is that only those parts will be affected either way and that the rest of the cars warranty is still intact because they are BMW parts, and thus it reads like only the suspension parts will be either 2 year or factory warranty

exactly my concern. But its not just a few hundred saved. My local BMW aftermarket shop quoted me 500 for install and alignment while my local dealership quoted me 1650

Guys, there's no reason for concern here. BMW dealers are not authorized to make up illegimate reasons for denying warranty. Even a sketchy dealer cannot pull a "third-brake light crack due to suspension" deal. In any case, that's why there are 300+ BMW dealers in the US. If one doesn't make you happy, then you can move onto another.

Read the thread I posted about a year about regarding warranty, the link is up above. Regardless of whether you install it youself, have it installed at a dealer, or local Indy/BMW-certified shop, the parts and labor are covered, period.. end of story. If you cannot find a non-shady dealer and want to make a trip out of coming to United BMW of Gwinnett, plan a vacation! I'll make it my responsibility to show you guys Atlanta

Also, if a dealer is being shady, contact me. I'll make sure to inform BMW NA LLC, and they will in-turn inform the BMW Area Rep. to straighten out said dealer.

Also, thanks for all the orders guys!

Installed today, HOLY SH*T!!! sooo much better than stock, wow, thanks a lot Dan! great stuff, install ran a little more than expected because the guy who quoted me missed the sway bar install but oh well I am very happy!! so much better feeling! I'll try to do a more detailed review, but I've only driven about 15 miles so far.

Have you still got the runflats on your car? I am looking into getting this done too!

the actual non-runflats- because they were on the rims I sold and the rears were pretty worn. as for the rims, I was really just bored of the all black look and they are so ridiculously difficult to clean
