Lowering Springs Review

When it comes to lowering springs, everyone has their own preference. I would love to see what everyone choose!

Here is my current setup:

Name: H&R Sport Springs Set M550i
Part #: 28721-2
Price: $281.00

Fitment: In my opinion, the fitment on these springs has been close to perfect and what I was looking for. I went with the H&R M550i springs since the M5 springs sit higher.

Bounce/Ride: I would say there is a medium-level bounce to these springs. The car doesn't ride like a Roll Royce, just your typical sports car ride.

Based on fitment, bounce, and price I thought this was the best option.

I would love to hear/see about everyone's setup and experience.

Beautiful car!!

I’ve had this kit on two different F90 M5’s and have been extremely happy with them and no issues to report.

I agree with your assessment in terms of ride quality and rebound.

Here’s some pics of both M5’s on this kit.

Very nice dcohen13. Definitely post pictures once installed! I'd love to see the fitment.

Does anyone know someone running the HR M5 sport springs? part #: 28686-1

The OP said that the 550i springs make it sit lower than the M5 springs.

I see you on tiktok from time to time and will definitely be sure to throw you a follow on it and IG.

Glad to hear about these springs because I've been curious of picking them up. Have you had any issues with any or excessive scraping? Any sounds?

Car looks sick!! I have a 2022 F90 M5 Comp and looking at these OEM CS lowering springs for mine....the cost is much higher than other aftermarket versions but as I'm stationed in Germany I usually just play it safe and put the OEM carbon fiber, etc on her. Check them out here, do it in Google Chrome and the page will autotranslate: https://www.leebmann24.de/bmw-m-perf...502456208.html Appreciate any feedback you might have.

Stupid questions:
1. Will the car rub without spacers? With Spacers?

2. Do you still have functional sport+, sport, comfort suspension settings?

Love this drop, but curious about the above.

Thanks!

Car will not rub with or without spacers.

You retain damper settings as these are a replacement to OEM springs.

Went with the H&R Springs also. I think it gave me the perfect drop with ride close to stock, even on 21" wheels.

Eibach Pro Kit, just what I wanted. Conservative, but still noticeable.

I’m getting h&r m5 springs installed on my 23 competition. I considered m550 but I don’t like the slammed/tucked look.

Is the h&r m5 drop worth it or not noticeable at all on a comp?

I know very few examples of people getting those on the forum. Would seem everyone who goes for non-HAS gets the M550 springs.

I bought the M5 springs because they are more performance oriented. They are stiffer and designed for the car. Most of the guys here are cosmetics guys who are into looks rather than performance and their goal is having the tires fill the wheel wells.

HAS kits are good because they preserve suspension travel by relocating the spring on the strut. But there are a couple of options and one may be more performance oriented than another due to the spring rates.

How much higher? So high that it’s not worth doing on a competition model? I’m debating hr m5 vs m550 springs, but I feel like m550 sits a touch too low in the rear for my preference.
