Florida to North Carolina (and back to FL soon)
Always wanted to take my car on a long journey, currently on a 2 week trip with my F90 Comp from Florida to North Carolina. Stopped by Savannah GA overnight and then continued north to NC's mountains.
As expected, the car did great and even averaged 21.6 MPG during the trip. I drove SP engine, S on suspension and C on steering - I was surprised at the MPG results, I expected less MPG. I have lined up the M School at BMW Performance Center in South Carolina July 2nd, so looking forward to that. Attached are a few pictures I've taken during my trip and will post more once I get the school done. Has anyone taken a long trip with the car? How was your experience? |

I had my M5 in Europe for 10 days with ED. Put about 1200 miles on it. I have had a couple 1000 mile trips each way that were fun, not for sightseeing, but still found good roads and the car was great to spend that amount of time in. Made it from Chicago to just south of Tampa in 17 hours flat in a straight shot late 2019 and was pretty fun to do.

Thanks! Yes, I believe they reopened mid June. I had mine lined up late March but was canceled due to COVID so I rescheduled as soon as I could.

Looks like you've already hit the Parkway. Fun drive, especially at dusk when traffic (and LEOs) at low density. I live in Pisgah Forest, and, no offense, we call the Florida infestation at summertime "invasion of the Floridiots!" Just drive at or slightly above the speed limit and you'll go unrecognized. Shouldn't be a problem in the M5. Enjoy your trip.

Completed my 2 week trip earlier this week. Drove approx 2,200 miles. Visited around 10 different towns (small and large) throughout NC and SC, including Greer, SC at BMW's performance center. Highly recommend anyone taking the one or two day classes. Hope you enjoy the pictures and I hope all of you have an opportunity to take your M5 out on a long journey. @frozen.f90m5
