Thanks for posting. Motortrend will confirm this and it will be 3 for 3.

The sun was in the AMG’s drivers eyes. AMG had a sunroof. M5 jumped. AMG didn’t properly use launch control. What was the octane? How many gallons of fuel in each car ? M5 had more octane. AMG tire pressure is too low as proven in the vid. AMG tire pressure is too high as proven in the vid.

Just entertainment folks......

Well at least they had very consistent results in both races. At the end of the day both these cars are cruise missiles. I'm sure there are scenarios where the AMG will win too but you know who never loses? Yay for the consumer!

I recommend you go see an eye doctor asap 😂

The AMG owner whom raced Dinanm posted in the E63S board, that out of 4 races, the AMG won 3. I think there is no need for an eye doctor. These cars are evenly matched. It is a great showing by BMW M as the car is down on power and torque when compared to the Merc.

The 60-130 and 100-200 tested (in the same place, with stock cars) was within hundredths from each other (as posted in this forum and the Mercedes forum). Therefore there is no clear winner.

First let me agree with you that they are in fact close in performance.

From another members comments - the Merc makes its power down low and the F90 more middle-top.

Trap speeds are close. Gearing is 9 gears (Merc) versus eight with better final gearing for 1/4 mile on the BMW.

That said, I will say the race we saw on Top Gear is what you would see on the street 9/10 times - IF the settings on both cars are maximized. The Merc will likely own the roll overall.

That same Owner posted about not being on the correct settings and that the performance was night and day on the M5 when he was on the maximum settings.

We shall see with the Motortrend test - which I have went on record many times stating that the M5 will be quicker and faster to 60 and the 1/4. That will make it 3 for 3 for the F90 in the major (three) North American magazines.

Either way - both cars are super quick for what they are. Additionally, it seems the M5 is the more agile, and the E63S has more power on tap in every gear and rpm. I am sure people would be happy to own both...

As I have also written many times - - it's a great time to be a car enthusiast!

I agree it is a driver's race for most of us on the road; however, M5 has slight edge when the test is performed properly:

Car and Driver - M5
AutoBild Sportscars - M5
CAR magazine UK - M5
Automobilemag - M5
Motormag - M5
Road&Track - M5
Carwow - E63s (R&T feels the need to point out that they use different tires on the M5 lol.)

Adding this clip that's 7/8, pretty conclusive imo.

You missed the actual reason for this outcome. The E63 driver is clearly heavier than the M5 driver. They should have changed cars after the first race.

The launch control on the M5 looks pretty cool here with the rear tires spinning, but it seems that the car is not standing still and is actually slowly moving ? I guess you gotta time it right then.

-M5 jumped
-Fatter driver in E63s
-E63s with the panoramic roof and M5 with carbon
-M5 with the lighter ceramics
-E63s prob full tank, M5 on empty
-E63s bricks in boot
-No distance or times

They have done this to drive subscriptions (opposite video to CarWow = more attention and link shares). Look at the other vids on their channel f10 M5 beats AMG GTS....

Secondly, Car and Driver and Road and Track are the SAME publication house so their results won't vary (BMW prob gave them the same tuned press car). There are just as many reviews around the world e.g. Evo Magazine, Top Gear, Chris Harris that point towards E63s. Media these days is a shambles of promoted/hyped content.

Its a bit weird how Top Gear UK pulled the M5 vs. E63s comparison from the most recent season even though it was in their trailer. Let me guess M5 didn't do well enough.
