Thoughts of moving to Alfa Quadrifoglio
What are your thoughts on moving from a 2017 X5M to a Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. Pros and Cons. If anyone has past or present experience with the Alfa
Any information will be amazing!! |

I personally would say that they’re amazing cars but being Italian I’m not so “Sure” about how Reliable it will be. But an alternative to an Alfa would be an F97 X3M Competition. But the Alfa is obviously gonna have less Space, Less Room, Not as good as a Sound, and it’s Not a V8. But also my concern is that Alfa Romeo and Maserati are owned by FCA and FCA products are Awful compared to anything European or even a Ford/Lincoln/GM Product. Those Alfa Romeo V6’s do Sound Amazing, Another thing is they are actually Discontinuing the Alfa Romeo Gulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio admit but personally if I were in your Shoes I’d go for an F97.

Yikes, I have read several articles and most say that an OBDII scanner should be standard equipment with an Alfa purchase. This is needed to clear all the CEL errors that you are in store for, lol.

I should also say, they are beautiful and are probably VERY enjoyable to drive. Just do a quick Google search on all the reliability issues, the list is long, very long.
I think it was Car & Driver that made the comment about the OBDII reader, they could barely finish their evaluation with all the errors. Over the 40k mile long-term test, the vehicle was at the dealer for unscheduled repairs for SEVERAL months. They went on to talk about the Giulia, "Giulia you broke our hearts", lol. All this while our 2018 X5M is in the shop getting the front lower suspension arms replaced. We only have around 60k miles and it has been in-and-out of the shop at least three times for unscheduled service. Not as bad as the Alfa, but certainly nothing to brag about.

Ive own both and while the driving dynamics of the QV are better i did have quite a few electronic gremlins (infotainment would go blank multiple times, fuel gauge was inaccurate (and left me stranded) and various software updates. Little quality issues with the interior (they replaced the whole leather dash due to delamination at 3k miles). All i can suggest is make sure you have a delaer network (when i bought mine i had 4 in a 20 mile radius) and when i traded it in i had one left. Get an extended warranty from FCA. Personally get the dual injection 2020+
