Lease swap deal good?

2022 comp 1,900 miles, executive package. Presumably “pristine” as advertised (close enough to me for physical inspection):

$1,700 / month
$5k down
30 months left

I’ve never used swapalease myself either.

I've done it twice now, and it's fantastic. Always make sure you read the fine print of any deal, but if the numbers work for you, it's incredibly easy, and usually on.y takes 2-3 at most to complete a transfer. Can be done in days too, if everything lines up right, but the times I did it, there was some delay in emailing back and forth with corporate and that kind of thing, so I think one time it was 3 weeks, and the other was like 10 days.

As for these numbers specifically? Hard to say without seeing the build sheet and knowing what options are there. If this is a car with Comp/Exec and no other options, that's not a terrible price. Probably no great deal here, but if it has the options/colors you want, it can be a nice, easy way to get into a current lease. It's honestly dead simple, and partly why I've done it in the past.

You can barely get into a stripped M5C for that these days.

NCRob I thought you were ordering a car? We can't give a solid answer on 1700 until we know what options / MSRP and the lease terms (duration, miles, RV and MF).

I do know that my 22 M5 w MSRP of about 137 was 1850 or so. (that's a steal these days). My new 23 w MSRP of about 147 is a lot more because of the increase in MF and decrease in residual. (59 vs. 57).

Yeah, I have an order but it keeps getting pushed back to "Order Received" going on over a month now & with the used market normalizing some now, just looking at some alternative options

Not bad at first glance, but hard to know without the variables. Please share specs or a link with us!

I went through that song and dance as well as I think I have mentioned to you before. It's extremely frustrating, especially when another owner on here has said he had his car within 8 weeks from initial order being placed a couple of weeks ago. I did end up doing something similar to you — when I found my exact spec at dealership in another state, I ended up acquiring it pretty quickly and backed out of my ordered car.

Worth noting I got a similar quote from a dealer new on a BSM M5C with all options except BW and CCBs.

Yeah I reached out to seller for additional details but haven’t heard back. However, I actually got a pop up alert from auto trader on a 2021 black on black specced exactly how I want including MPE, B&W, full leather, carbon exterior bits, 6k miles I’m trying to deal on. One owner, clean car fax, immaculate condition! If I can get $102k, I’ll gladly go used this time and save ~$36k. Wanted new, but hard to pass this up as it’s exactly what I want only slightly used!

Slightly used cars >>>>>>> new cars anyways. I couldn't find a good slightly used one that I liked for sale or lease swap, so went new, but it's like breaking in a baseball glove, and is so annoying. Motors don't really come to life for a good 5-10k miles imho anyways. Should be close to perfect around 6k.

Plus unless I’m mistaken, there is absolutely NO design, mechanical, cosmetic, etc changes for 21 to 23, right??

Hmm, off the top of my head, I think there might be some *small* changes (maybe?), but nothing that would make or break anyone. In fact, it might just be color options and stuff like that. '22 to '23 there's definitely no change.

Based on your numbers with monthly $1,700 and $5K down you will pay $56,000 over the 30 months, excluding taxes. Why not just buy the car would be a better financial decision. Vehicle has already depreciated and think you will have equity after 30 months if you want to sell or trade it.

Yep! I came to same conclusion when a similar purchase opportunity popped up a couple days later and jumped on it!

Got delivered yesterday! The MPE cold start in the trailer scared the shit out of me! As did my first hard pull an hour later if I’m to be honest. And, I still have a Racechip yet to put on this monster! It’s a bit more intense than the 06 GMC pickup I’ve been driving the past couple month

Some quick logic I figured out too:
maximizing MPE directly diminishes WAF (wife approval factor)

2021
6900 miles
Black on Black Full Leather
B&W
Executive & DAP
OEM carbon mirrors and spoiler
MPE (hell yeah!)
Really impressed with the condition. Other than a few expected rock chips needing touched up, it’s pristine.

On the way:
MP Pro Spoiler replacement
MP Diffuser
Front Reflector Deletes
Tint
Dinan Turbo Inlets
BMC Filters
Racechip install
Blacked out Roundels & center caps
Divorce papers if Im unable to keep the noise and speed down

Congratulations! Absolutely beautiful. Everyone knows I'm a sucker for all black M5s. Enjoy it in good health and we can't wait to see what's to come!

Congrats on your purchase - nice spec. Enjoy it in good health!

Why are the tips on the MPE shoved out so far? I had MPE on my 22 (and will on the 23) and it's way more tucked in than that.

You know, I thought the same thing!!! They do appear to protrude quite a bit. I guess I can adjust and push back on some but haven’t looked closely yet.

I do know that this MPE was dealer installed instead of port installed so that might account for variance. They are a bit excessive looking as is so hopefully can adjust

Congratulations! That MPE is louder than most people realize at first lol. BMW did a good job with it on this car, as it's the best sound upgrade for the money. As a single system, nothing beats it imho. No way I could have spec'd it personally, as it would just be too loud!

Enjoy!

I agree with you. It's funny when I was back and forth on spec'ing it for the 22 there were so many reviews that said, not worth the money, get an Akra (even tho MPE is made by Akra), etc. But agree - it is a great system, and for those of us who do port install, it ends up being on the build sheet and residualized into the lease. And NCRob is lucky to have some miles on his - they definitely do break in a bit with time. I sold my 22 with about 2k miles on the clock and it was way more rowdy than when I brought it home. I'm looking forward to having it on the 23 as well. And OP is right our enjoyment of the MPE is in direct proportion to the wife's displeasure with the car. (other than the cold start in the morning she doesn't seem to mind).

So true. My wife would be so pissed starting that thing up every morning just below the kids bedroom!.

I went back and forth too, since for a lease, it's impossible to beat, but man, it's just too loud for me for around town/work/home. Would be a blast on the highway though! OP's whole spec is fantastic, plus B&W!
