Can my tire be patched/plugged?

I just noticed one of my rear tires is completely flat, i have the oem Pirelli run flat tire. I’ve never had run flat tires, certainly not ones that were flat.

Based on the location of the nail it seems like it can be plugged, but a quick google search says it can’t be. It must’ve became flat after I parked it in my garage, so it wasn’t driven on. A new house is being built next to mine so the nail must’ve come from there.

Any thoughts?

You can alternatively have an inside patch done.

So a plug wouldn’t be an option from the outside?

Okay cool, I’ll have it towed to discount tire to get it patched tomorrow. The TPMS says it only has 1psi of air, it’s completely empty or so it seems.

How long has it been on 1psi for? You can damage the side walls if you leave it too long or drive on it. Put some air in it to be on the safe side.

Plug is easy and cheap since it is done from the outside but many say not as good as an inside patch. Inside patch requires removing the tire so it costs more. Some say doing both at the same time is best. It’s up to you. I have used all 3 methods with good results.

I was able to have it towed to discount this morning and they were able to patch it from the inside, so we’re good to go. It was deflated for probably around 16-17 hours total and not driven on since it became flat after I parked from work.

You sure your tires are runflat?

Plug is fine as quick solution, done that , then at first opportunity I had it patched for peace of mind

I did not know any wheels used on the F90 M5 came with runflats, but I suppose an owner could put them on.

The salesman at the BMW dealership said they were since they’re Pirelli with the star on them? My F80 M3 didn’t have runflats, so I guess I’m not entirely sure they are.

Had Pirelli with star on my M5 and they were not runflats

I understand M cars never run on runflats
