Media button & CarPlay

Every since I had the fuel vent recall the Media button on the iDrive controller has been acting weird.

If I'm in one of the CarPlay menus/apps, pressing the Media button will take me directly to the media that is currently playing - whether that's a radio station or Spotify. If I end up on the Spotify screen, the Media button becomes useless - it doesn't do anything. If I want to switch the media source I have to use the Mode button on the dash or the steering wheel.

If I'm outside the CarPlay menu - radio or anything else outside of CarPlay, the Media button works as it did before - when pressed it presents a list of available media sources.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Before carplay, I have been saving my presets menu in one of the saveable hard buttons on the dash. That seems to still work to pull up the media menu.

I just wish the radio wouldn't kick off and force carplay audio start just because I get in the car and choose to use waze as my navigation.

Yep, it's quite annoying. It's the same in my 991.2 Turbo S - radio playing, choose CarPlay, radio keeps playing, turn on Waze - starts playing Spotify... At least in the Porsche I get the CarPlay audio while the radio is playing. In the F90 I need to have Spotify playing (or whatever CarPlay media source) in order to hear the Waze alerts.

I can still hear waze while radio is playing, provided that waze is in navigation/destination mode

This is also happening to me as well. It's so embarrassing that BMW tech team can't figure this out and push an update. That is what sets a company like Tesla apart. My car also switches to CarPlay (regardless of what I'm playing) every time a text comes through or I launch an app while at a stop light. It's ridiculous! Performance is great but a bad UI is the stuff I talk about with friends.

Looks like it's not just a BMW issue but more a Waze issue. And of course Google hasn't acknowledged it yet.
