New M5 Build and Poll Question
Hi All,
I debated in another thread the interior of tartufo vs. aragon on a tanzanite blue build, but due to my wife changing her mind about getting a grey car (she ended up with a '21 carbon black X5 40i), I'm back to my original choice of Brands Hatch Grey. (Not that it would be a big deal to have two similar colors, but I like some variety in the garage.) So here's where I am at now and will be finalizing my order this week, Brands Hatch Grey, Tartufo Full Leather with light Carbon Structure trim, CF roof, all options except CCB and Driver's Pack (if you consider that a real option), and port installed M performance CF mirror caps and Pro CF rear spoiler to add a little extra flair. I've seen this color with black wheels and I do really like the look. I have black wheels on my current X5M and have been very pleased. But I think I want to do more of a traditional look on this, plus the benefit of forged (though I don't track, so I personally am not a believer that this is a huge difference), so I'm leaning towards the Y spoke bi-color forged wheels with Black calipers. I think any of the caliper colors can work, and I like red, but those prob stand out the most and am not looking for that here. I like the history of the M blue, but there's something drawing me to black in this case. So any thoughts on whether to go forged bi-color with black or blue calipers Vs. the double spoke black wheels with black or blue calipers? I'm not sure I'll change my mind at this point as I've gone over this build too many times, but I'm interested to see some different takes, I get that it's personal preference and to each their own.... Either way, thanks for playing and humoring me! |

If you're looking for more of a stealth look, I would say get the black calipers. My orginal build had the y forged wheels with the black calipers, but once I got the ceramic option, black was out of the question. Otherwise, any choice of caliper color is nice.
I believe the y spoke wheels look the best, and if you want to afterwards, you can powder coat them black if you choose. At least there you have the option. By the way, I too got the M Performance Exhaust and the CF Pro spoiler, my car is in a ship now to the port so I'm as excitedas you probably are. Good choice on those options Hope this helps, but I think your build sounds amazing! Ultimately it's whatever you decide, and I can promise you that you'll be please no matter what!

Not a poll choice, but I would go with the forged wheels, powder coat them black, and go with red calipers.

I recently saw a Brands Hatch with Silverstone full leather with red calipers. It was a base model with 19 inch wheels and looked awesome. I would still option it with 20 inch black forged wheels with black calipers and Silverstone interior.

I agree, the comparison I was referring to was tanzanite blue and carbon black. The tanzanite has more blue in it but both can look dark blue subject to light.

Interesting, I have azurite black, which is similar to carbon, on my current X5 M and while I have liked it overall and occasionally while clean in the right light it's really cool, I've also felt bored and wished it was just black sapphire at times.

Thanks all! Well it seems the forged wheels win in a landslide, as do the blue calipers. I've decided I'm going to go with the forged bi-color for sure, still debating on the calipers, though still leaning forged/black. I've seen some great pics with BHG & the forged/blue where it really pops, but have seen very few optioned with black calipers, and I like the contrarian sleeper play still. I appreciate everyone's input and the best part is, there's no choice that will ruin the car!
In terms of the silverstone interior suggestion, I love that, have smoke white now (they are pretty close), but I need a break from these light interiors and keeping it clean. |
