Inbox is full. You were right. The rear deck speaker works in the door. Now I'm having a hell of a time getting the upper panels back in place. Looks like they have to slide on to the guides, but it not easy with the metal clip in the way. Also after i got the rear deck off it looks like the grills for the rear decks come off?

Edit, looks like there's 3 speakers out. The 2 front doors and the driver's side rear. Not as bad as I thought.

Ugh, stereo sounded terrible, found this page, and sure enough both my front mids are out.

Anyone have any idea how much labor it is to replace these? Didn’t find a great video on pulling the door panel off. Will definitely order the kit from this thread, but not comfortable doing the work myself. I’m accident prone :-)

It’s not that hard. Pry handle, 2 bolts and pry again the door trim. Although you better use new door clips and cover handle with tape to avoid damage to leather/rubbery part with the pry tool.

I replaced all the speakers with parts from hookson. i did find on the rear doors you can pry the bottom panel loose and pull enough to get at the speakes without panel removal. Just need another body to hold for the minutes it takes to replae speakers.

My wife’s front driver side speaker has failed. I understand the shielding being sold here, but I do not understand how water is able to enter the area. Is it unreasonable to believe this area should be water-tight? I believe that is what needs to be addressed. Although the speaker may be protected, other items in the door remain at risk due to water intrusion.

Thanks Friends. Okay I’ll give it a try! And totally agree that it’s quite concerning that enough water is entering the door to destroy a speaker.

dougpaper when you reinstalled the front door leather handle cover, how did you deal with the metal clip at the top of the handle? I do not see how it fits in the leather cover. I saw a video of someone bending the metal clip but I still do not understand how it should attach to the handle cover.

Sad update from me: was finally about to order the two mid range speakers and did a final audio check to confirm both were out (they were). In the process, I discovered that one tweeter in the rear doesn’t work also, and neither of my front tweeters light up (but they emit sound).

This really is going to add up in cost and I am pissed at myself for going to great lengths to buy a car spec’d with B&W. I’m sure it sounds great, but I now see tons of similar complaints of these types of failures. I know the lack of lights and a non working tweeter will also bug me until I fix it…really should have gotten a warranty on this 2019 M5C with a bum radio :-(

Anyone else experience tweeter failures?

I had few people that reported problem with twitter illumination. It’s was fixed be replacing the LED module in it. Not sure if water causes it to fail though.

sorry for the delay, i bent the clip back in slightly and installed into the clip when reassembling. there is a video on youtube for 5series done by a tinter that helped alot
