I've had mine almost 3 months now. My wife got home right after me one night and was like "is your car still running?" lol

Normal and you will probably run into people who remind you to turn off the car, even though it is off, when you are at a gas station pumping gas.

A short drive vs highway drive drive - ok I went 3 blocks to the store my oil did not even warm up came home - no fan Turbos get hot in 10 secs - I won't even go here - if you start the car there is no boost in them. The last two are even better - wait in your car. LOL. This car has pumps and fans specifically designed so you do not need to do this - it is not 1995 when you needed to purchase a turbo timer from greddy, AEM whatever to keep you car idling. Finally I drove a 335 fully tuned to approx 450hp/450torque(have dyno sheets), 12 years I drove that car and I shut it off as soon as I got home after betting the crap out of it. PS - that has only a small pump to cool the turbos when parked. |

I took delivery of mine yesterday with 18 miles, drove it up a canyon in comfort for 10 minutes, 3 miles. Parked and got out of the car, thought I already broke the car from the amount of noise it was making. And had driven it in a really civil manner given that I just got it.. Glad to see this thread to say the least

So glad you got enclosed transport to bring it to you nicely. The color is absolutely stunning! I know these photos don't even do it justice. Can't wait to see more. I couldn't be happier for you! You helped me get through my wait as well. Awesome to see everything come to fruition and to see the fruits of your labor and patience. I know it's been a long road!!!

I had my car in for service to replace the coolant overflow tank due to defective seal. Ever since the replacement, i have not observed the engine cool off fan to turn on even once. Prior to the replacement, the cool off fan would always run after turning car off for a few minutes (never had low coolant light on). Was a setting switched off by dealer or is this fan purely always automatic only? Want to ensure there isn't a setting they turned off by chance.

I have owned many M products and they all seem to have some heat issues requiring lengthy cool downs but the M5 has been the worse and longest of them requiring a loooong cool down. Ive often wondered how long the battery would last. I do have to say however that mine is an 18 and has only required one recharge after a lengthy sleep with a ( apparently) defective trickle charger. I do not drive in the winters.

Yeah this car cools down after shutting off the engine for a weirdly long time. My E63s never needed to cool down as long and loudly as the M5 does

In theory the Li-ion battery supports more cycles than AGM so the extra use by the fans and pumps should not shorten battery life. FWIW the coolant pumps in my wife's E90 N54 ran for a while after. The B58 in the X5 does it too.
