What is the latest iDrive version?

I had my car towed to the BM dealership as the passenger front tire went flat and I could not re-inflate it. So whiles it's there I would like to know if there is any reason not to update the iDrive to the latest version? I don't know what the current version is on my car.

What year is your car? You likely have iDrive 7.0. If I recall correctly, you can confirm this by going to: My Vehicle > iDrive Settings > Software Update > Show Current Version. I can confirm this the next time I’m in the car in case this is incorrect.

If you have any coding through BimmerCode or the like, upgrading to the newest iDrive version (if you’re not on it) or any type of vehicle software upgrade will likely remove your coded options, and you’d have to recode again.

I have foregone all software updates (not iDrive) for this exact reason.

My local dealer said the car has an after market tune but could not tell me what type of tune. I rang up a couple of the well known tuners like Dinan etc and none of them could find my VIN in their database. I won’t get the car back till this coming Tuesday so will check the version then. Thank you for your reply.

You’re welcome!

Sorry to hear that. Did you complete a PPI prior to purchase?
