Carplay Help/Advice

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to get Carplay to stop automatically playing music from my Iphone when I get in the car. It's annoying AF. I've tried every setting I can find. Even created a shortcut in the IOS using the shortcut app to turn off autoplay for Carplay and it won't work either.

Surely I'm not the only one that experiences this? There has to be something I'm missing here. Any help is super appreciated lol.

I’m not familiar with the issue as it doesn’t happen to me. Curious - does it play the same song each time you start the car or does it start playing from where you left off? Could it be an iPhone setting instead of a CarPlay setting?

Never had that happen to me. Even if I was listening to Spotify when I parked.

What is the source of the song? Apple Music? Or some other app?

My wife has had simlaie issue with her car and my aftermarket CarPlay unit so she never has bluetooth even on anymore. A bit extreme but what ever.

I still never have the issue when I drive her X5.

I have no actual help for you, but this happened in my previous (pre-LCI) M5 all the time, and it was always the first song alphabetically that started playing on its own, even if I had been listening to some other source when I turned the car off before starting it the next time I got in. I got so sick and tired of hearing the first 5 seconds of that one song every time I got in the car, so I ended up deleting the song.

This doesn’t happen in my LCI though. You have an LCI as well though, right?

Yes, I have a LCI. This did not happen in my pre-lci. It's odd. I've even deleted apple music from my phone. It's a common issue with Carplay users in other vehicles as well and the apparent fix is creating shortcuts in your phone/device to disable it. It drives me nuts. Even if all music apps are closed it immediately picks a random song from the last music app that was open and starts playing it.

It does it in my wife's Merc as well when I enter the car lol.

It's the opposite for me, the music doesnt play unless I press the volume knob to mute, then again to unmute. Wanna switch places? lol

Update-It appears it was not Carplay related but bluetooth related. Also, I finally did my remote software update and the problem went away lol.

By actual, I think you mean in print. My previous ‘19 M5 came with an actual manual, but in case yours didn’t, here it is as a free PDF that you can view or download.

If you prefer to have one in print, they’re available for purchase here.

I’m unsure of BW equipped cars, but the HK does not have a CD player in the center stack in either the pre-LCI or LCI.
