Jb4 0-60 times and custom map

Finally was able to get a sub 3 second on jb4 map 2 in 93 octane .. I know the car has more (need to get my 0-20 down another .10th or so) .. I can never seem to get the car to launch down low well?

I wanna start messing with custom mapping ..maybe increase boost a little on the Lowe end vs map 2? Thoughts

Does anyone have any guidance on how to safely mess with the custom mapping .. 93 octane only (no boostane or other fuel mixtures)

I would say that's not a good idea. Power on the low end is one of the main causes of bent rods. I'm running the exact opposite on map 6, low boost until 4000 rpm. Post some logs, you shouldn't be having any issues with power in map 2. I was able to hit 0-60 in 2.6 with map 2.

I'll get some logs up later

I'm quite disappointed with the 0-60 times

Keep in mind I'm in south Florida

But I definitely thought car would be around 2.7-2.8 with map 2 on 93 octane

What fuel were you runnin on those runs?

Any other mods ?

Tire pressure ?

It's funny to hear someone disappointed with 0-60 in 2.9 seconds from a 4000lb sedan. lol

My tire pressures were 30 all the way around. Fuel was 91 with boostane and E85 mixed in. Shouldn't matter much though as long as timing wasn't pulling better fuel won't help. Let's just get some logs, also send them to Terry at BMS. 0-60 stock for me was 2.90, in a non comp.

How are you launching?

And not disappointed with the time per se (it's f in fast) but I'm disappointed because I think it should be faster in relation to what o have seen other people put down with stock and tuned cars .. just thought I would be quicker .. 2.94 was my best time .. mostly I'm in 3-3.2 with map 2 .. just seems slow for what the car has .. it's an M5 comp in Michelin's ps ... I think I have 36 psi

I highly suggest you do not use higher than map2 on 93 octane. Even 93 is risky for map2. I only ran map2 on 97 or higher and my map6 I would only run on 100 or higher.

Map2 is 5.3lbs and map6 I would put at 6lbs but that was after countless logs and changes. Don't just try to plug in numbers. Work with Terry.

I ran a 2.55 on map2 and only a 2.54 going to map6. limeypride ran a 2.59 with 92oct and booster taking him to 96/97octane on map6 using around the same boost as map2 on a completely stock car.

What mods do you have on your car?

I didn't mess with air pressure and kept it around 34psi all around on my 21's although for strictly 0-60 purposes you can drop as low as 28psi but I never had a reason to as I was never spinning on launch until I got it tuned and now it will spin the first two gears if it's not at least 60 out and my tires are warm a bit from driving. Even then I can't hook up.

Are you sure you're doing the launch properly? Try holding it longer or letting off sooner. Are you seeing the flag? I ran 2.85 completely stock. Map1 with DP's, intake and exhaust I went to 2.75

Hockey

I have no other mods. Only mod is JB4

This is why I am so frustrated

Feel like car is a dud

Best stock time I could do was a 3.2

I definitely thought I would be sub 3.0 but was unable to put down these times

Flag is definitely coming on with launch. Shifts go automatically once engaged in manual mode. I am fairly confident I am properly engage Launch control.

The car just isn't putting down the times. I only weight 190. So I don't think it's driver weight.

I thought it could be Florida temps

But DAs (although high) aren't crazy

I just tried several launches on map 2 to get some logs but couldn't get anything below 3

Best time was a 3.2 w map 2 just now

It's crazy

I'm not sure what happened in this run...

It looks like you took off in 2nd? Did you just power brake it from 2nd?

Boost looks good. Timing is super low though, maybe you need some race gas, octane booster or E85.

I don't think ...

I need to label them next time to make sure I'm not sending you the wrong logs

But definitely didn't power brake from 2nd gear

It's possiblw that was a launch we're it LC didn't engage and I redlined

I really need to rename the logs after I run them so I remember which one is which

You need better fuel. But, I would show Terry the logs and give him your times and current fuel you ran.

Also, 0-60 isn't a great way to log and test you car. There is too many variables. 60-130 is more ideal and not as hard on the car.

I'll try and log some 60-130s

Just need some open road

Definitely launching too much (I think I've done 50 lol) probably not good on the trans

Is there a launch limiter? I remember my Audi s6 has a limit of 200 launches Unless your tunes it and removed the limiter

I know there are a lot of variables but I still think the car should be consistently running sub 3 with the jb4

Wouldn't you think?

Seems crazy that it's extremely difficult 1 out of 20 that I got sub 3

If that was an LC launch, it is messed up. First is spun hard and short shifted at 6000 to second.

The timing dropped to 5 to mitigate the spin.

Plus the Launch rpm looks odd...did it push through the brakes ?

That killed the zero to 60mph.

Whose gas are you using? Shell and Chevron consistently work better for me over say 76.

Your base octane is 93, right?

Tires are... guessing Pirellis?

If you run map 0 back to back with map 1, are you seeing any improvement?

Regardless, reach out to Terry—he'll help diagnose.

Shell, Chevron, Sometimes Sunoco

It varies

I definitely noticed an improvement

But it's just inconsistent

I mean the best time I could get stock was 3.2

The best time I got on map 2 was 2.94

I just fee that the times are weak in general

I figured on a stock comp I would consistently do 3.0 on the street with 93

And with jb4 I would be in high 2s (like a 2.7) consistently ...

But I struggle

I should test some 60-130s
And quarter mile times

There is a track event next weekend so we shall see

I know the 0-60 is not the best barometer for quickness due to different variables (either way the car is fast) but I still think those times should be much lower for a 2019 M5 comp w jb4

I have Michelin Pilot sports from factory

I don't have ceramic breaks (maybe that's adding weight) ...

I dunno

Car definitely getting more boost

I will say that jb4 doesn't feel as smooth as stock

I sent terry maps immediately after install because car had the old firmware and through a drivetrain malfunction error

I installed new firmware and he said they looked good and to continue running on map 2

But again 2.94 is meh
