Here's the cropped version of the official press release picture

Rev counter only goes to 7k and looks exactly like the M340i dash to me. Even though it does say ///M5 in the center, who really knows...

Can we just get our nice analog gauges back? sigh...........

Based on the official picture, it is Idrive 6 !!!! and on the website of Bmw Press group, they do not mention the Idrive 7.

There we go, makes more sense to me seeing as both X3M and X4M gauge clusters look nearly identical to the M5.

I downloaded the same picture as you posted, but from BMW group and it has the Idrive 6 clusters.

Wow very weird, I downloaded it from the USA press site, I see you are in Switzerland, so you probably got it from the global press site.

So very odd!

I suppose we can't confirm anything at this point related to gauge clusters and which version of iDrive.

the reason for the discrepancy in pics is probably due to someone just photoshopping the limited edition gold trim on an existing dash photo of a ‘18/‘19 F90 with the pre-iDrive 7.0 and pre-Live Cockpit stuff.

Who really knows what the 2020 will get since it’s not the actual LCI model year. My bet is it will get the new dash and infotainment updates but those who want the laser lights and other stuff will have to wait for LCI model year 2021.

Certainly that's one explanation. Alternatively, those who shelled out $120k+ for what they believed was the "ultimate M" could simply be expressing their frustration that their M5s are no longer "that" car. Pretty much the same as what's playing out on rennlist re the 992, but I take your point.

Yeah they do it on rennlist too. I have a TTS on order cause I got a significant discount off of it that I would not receive on the 992 in a couple of years. And they depreciate far less than a BMW. But the 992 was anticipated, this M5 wasn't.

If it's frustration then they can just say so.

lol. me too.

hopefully those can be easily retrofitted to non-laser-light F90 with just some oem parts and a little coding.

I’d be all over it

BMW could simply solve the problem by allowing us to toggle between different dash/tachometer styles.

The Mclaren 720S gives the user the ability to toggle dash types.
