Sto N Sho front plate mount

For those interested I got a couple of quick pics of the Big Mikes Sto N Sho front plate mount for us unfortunate souls living in states that require it.

Looks great. I just got one to put on my M8. Any problems aligning it so that the eye in the lower grill is not blocked?

Did you use all three bolts or just the big one?

I've had mine on for a while and it works great. It does not interfere with the "eye" for the cruise control. I tried to use it with just the double sided tape, but that wasn't strong enough. So I had to use the one big bolt and it's been fine. I figure one hole where nobody can see it is fine.

I feel so bad for you guys that have front plates. They absolutely ruin the look of any car.

Agreed. I usually leave it off because local police don't care. State troopers look for it though.

I wish they would allow us to have Euro license plates up front. The elongated plates look so much better.

In MA it's a moving violation that adds points. I generally don't care that much but for the M5/M8 somehow it's worse. The Euro plates look OK. I can live with the look but like that this doesn't require drilling in the front and can be removed easily. I had used Skene Design mounts in the past but this is more stout.

Cops need to find better stuff to do. I haven't had a front plate on any of my cars in 15 years and haven't really had an issue even though they are required here.

+1000. Rather than dealing with distracted, aggressive and incompetent drivers, they would prefer to give tickets for lack of front plates.

This weekend a new law goes into place that does not permit one to hold a cell phone while driving. $100 ticket for the first infraction and then higher after that. Maybe that will be how they will spend their time going forward.

I’ve got a question for California Peeps: When I’m there, I notice half the cars have front plates, Are the others just taking chances on a ticket? Do the cops even care? Thanks

FWIW I have lived in MA for 20 plus years never had a front plate and only been stopped twice. No ticket just a friendly reminder it is required. I always keep it in the trunk if needed. One cop actually said he wouldn't drill the bumper either (997 911) and just said he wanted a closer look at the car!

Use zip ties to put it on for inspection time and aside from that no issue.

Depends on the city. Where I live, the cops will go out of their way to cite you for no front plate.

I've been driving in California for 25 years with no front plate and I've never received a ticket. That said, this year some new laws were passed and, supposedly, they're going to start ticketing more. You do see less cars on the road here without a plate than in years past, so I think more people are getting religion. And they're fining dealerships who sell a car without a plate firmly affixed (i.e., not taped on).

I have a Carbonio screen mount that works great (as long as you don't have the cruise sensor), if I ever need to put the plate on the car.

I think that is a great law.
