The upgraded stereo (b&w) is a lot better. It has to be one of the best, if not the best factory system in any car. Also, shouldn’t they of actually ran 0-60, or 1/4 mile or something actually performance oriented? Did I miss that part?

Cammisa is/was the man, loved the content he and Lieberman put out until MT bounced from YT. Not always objective but always entertaining. I think he's at R&T now.

Great review from them, as always, also great to see Jason Cammisa again, I know he's controversial here on Bimmerpost, but I always loved his unfiltered and unbias view on cars (he still does great mini-reviews on instagram today)

Like their verdict, I'd also likely buy an M5 and spend the extra $60k on a sports car or elsewhere, I do love that AMG GT 4-Door, but if I truly wanted an AMG, I'd honestly just get the E63. Also, wondering if AMG will give the GT the rumored 73 variant, with the V8 paired to a hybrid system for 700+ horsepower.

I drove them both and took home the M5 Comp. The AMG was impressive, but not $70K more impressive. I think Mercedes is going to have a hard time moving these cars at the price they are asking. The interior is fantastic, though.

The front grill of the AMG makes the car look like an old man in a weird way. MB design cues recently are either feminine or old man's car.

I can tell you...1) this was on public roads in a half decently busy area (they normally do their performance stuff on a runway), 2) they didn't have their gear (Dragy) to do it. I am fairly confident to say there will be full performance testing going forward...

as an exclusive MT only driver, can anyone explain to me why they were doing launch control but paddle shifting?? i thought LC was "step on the throttle and let the car wow you"

For some reason I can't really love the rest end of the newest Mercs. Both the newest CLA, CLS and this looks odd with the tail lights they have given them. Seems like I'm in the minority though

So basically, the Merc is more fun, sexier, and has a flashier interior; but it loses because the M5 is softer, more comfortable, and cheaper.

The whole comparison doesn't even make sense. Just wait for the M8 Gran Coupe as the M5 competes with the E63.

On a side note, Merc interiors are definitely a grade lower in quality than the competition. While they look nice aesthetically, their material quality isn't quite up to par in some areas.

Its mainly just the ride quality's stiffness thats the problem and the upcharge, which makes some sense, as ride quality can be a deal breaker, especially as these vehicles are meant to be daily drivers more than say a boxster or M2, but then again ride comfort is subjective, so you or I probably would find no problem with it, but the fact that he got a headache driving it, is good reason for him to give it second place.

In the end, if you want a more raw driver's car, get the AMG, if you want something civilized and comfortable, but still able to handle well and step its tale out, get the M5.
