Correct.

Note that the 1 foot rollout is worth more in the range of 0.2 to 0.3 seconds.

There is no CLS63, only GT63 4 Door.

There is a redundancy between the CLS53 and GT53 but if you want a four door V8 that isn't an E class, GT63 is the only option from Mercedes.

Zee Germens Always Say It Like It Is

I have always found that the German press is more appreciative of BMW M than other places. They seem to see the strengths of the product and not focus on details that divert attention from what it does best.

I have to say that the AMG, while not my taste does score for being more bespoke and special feeling than the run of the mill Benz. At that price range, it goes some way to tip customer appeal.

I think that is the original point. Why does the GT63 even exist when the CLS is already there?

The CLS is a Mercedes and the GT 4-door is a Mercedes-AMG. Think of it as two different companies that uses similar parts. The GT 4-door is AMG's own car whereas an E63 is a Mercedes "tuned" by AMG.

Ah, thanks; I missed that it was a 53

Rightfully according to who (aside from the author and yourself)? You're assuming that their subjective choice can be imputed to everyone else...

To bring up the Fiesta ST in the first place in this thread is incredible. Let's discuss the Fiesta ST when you driven the ST but in a different thread.

Thanks for sharing! M5 is a testament to engineers and product managers who delivered exceptional performance at the right price. The authors of the article undoubtedly felt the same.

Fun is subjective. So there is no "rightfully". End of discussion.

I don't think this is just regular news. This is some pretty impressive stuff. That M5 is godly.

Don't make too much of the mention. It was a joke.

Besides performance points, look at the price difference! I know the direct competitor is the E63S for the M5, but even then.... how do you justify? It must be the looks at that point...

I'd definitely take the Mercedes.

In todays climate, the M5 looks like a total dad car.

The design is far too safe and not aggressive in any way shape or form.

same here. it grew on me, inside and out. i'd take it without thinking twice. But b/w this and the M8GC, we'll have to wait and see.

The final scoring says:
Drivetrain 5 stars for both cars
Performance: 5 stars for both cars
Brakes: 4.5 for both (even though M5 has shorter stopping distances)
Handling/Driving fun: 4.5 for M5 and 4.0 for GT63S - GT63S is named to be more comfortable while M5 is sportier and more exciting
Cornering: 4.0 for both - M5 is 188 kilos lighter and thus easier to throw around but AMG feels more relaxed through corners
Comfort: M5 gets 2.5 and GT63S gets 4 stars - M5 rides harder which can get annoying on longer drives while GT63S is comfortable.
Daily driving: M5 gets 4 stars and GT63S gets 3.5 stars - M5 has more interior room.
Price/performance: M5 gets 3 stars and AMG gets 2 - GT63S costs 40.000 euros more.
Final score: 4.1 for the M5 and 4.0 for GT63S.
Verdict: M5 is less comfortable but still wins due to the AMGs steep price.

Pam Turbo is also more expensive and slower than the M5. But as I have said in another post, not everyone is looking for the ultimate price/performance ratio, MB has a different look and sound, I'm sure some people still dig it even if overpriced.

The direct rival for GT63 will be M8 GC.
This test proves how good the M5 is, at least performance wise.
Of course, GT63 has a more extravagant look, seen in the final price, but the same will be with the M8 😉

Apparently you're the only one who didn't realize that I brought it up in jest...
