Is this normal? When first turning on for the day

When I turn my car on first time for the day. The yellow line is always on the 4rpm , when I first got it it never went that low maybe to 6 or 7 but that's about it. Anybody else have this same issue ?

This has been on M cars for a while now. Once the engine is warmed up it will increase the yellow/redline. Very cool feature.

Same here but this is normal. When the engine is cold you shouldn't rev over 4000. Yellow is just telling you what you should not do. After a couple of miles the oil get's warm and the yellow will rise to higher revs.

The redline will also move depending on how hot the engine is. If it's overheating the redline will creep down. Cool feature!

Garage List
Will it actually limit revs to the 4000rpm mark when its cold or is it just a warning? Will the automatic gearbox shift below this rev range even if you put your foot down hard?

No. You can rev it past the yellow if you put your foot down. It won't go past the red though.

My ZO6 stayed like that at 5500rpm until the first oil change.
