Finally got back to the drag strip

After 18mths of frustration, I have finally got back to Willowbank for a run. A bit of background on the past 18mths. Early 2022, I had an engine built that was faulty from the get go and after 6 mths of trying to sort it out, I replaced it with a stock unit. In Oct 2022, I entered a Test N Tune only to have the meet, on short notice, cancelled, as the track was to undergo works for the remainder of the year. I again entered a Test N Tune in Jan 2023 which was again cancelled following the fatality at the Nitro meeting the week before. I then had an issue with the engine where I would be driving along at 60kph without an issue and like flicking a switch, all cylinders would begin misfiring and backfiring. This ended up being the BimmerLife R8 coils system. I installed my old OEM coils and haven't had a problem since. This leads me to my run on Friday night. This was the first run with the RB GF 19T turbos and dual 3" exhaust and running on BP98 at 20psi boost. I managed a 11.424s@123mph with a 1.77s 60' time. The run would have been 3-4 tenths better if I hadn't hit the rev limiter in 1st gear and if the 60' time was better ( i have done 1.6s on 98 before). The meeting organisation was a joke with around 150 entries resulting in most only getting 1 or at best 2 runs for the night. I was on the second row of the staging lanes and it took 30mins before I got a run. Anyway, enough bitching. Next week my 6HP21 is being replaced with an 8HP75 which should result in quicker shifts and access to launch control. I will install the E30 tune and see how all of that works. I would expect a high 10s run hopefully.

8hp will knock a bit off that.
You have a perfect setup.

The launch control in the 8HP75 should improve the 60' time and the quicker shift times should help as well. Another plus is the car should be smoother to drive around town and more economical on the highway with the 8 speed. With the Wedge E30 tune a high 10s run should be achievable.

I have been quiet over the past 18 months due to all of the issues with the built engine. I was hoping to have been putting down some good runs this time last year but the fault with the built engine stuffed that up. I am currently having the built engine rebuilt by another business which does nothing else but builds engines so hopefully, the outcome will be better.

I got my car back from Simply Tuning with the 8HP75 installed last week so I took it to the Test N Tune on Friday night to try it out. I run the 98 tune while I perfected the use of the trans brake / launch control. I had 4 runs with the first 2 experimenting with different boost levels on launch. The trans brake is currently set at 3,000 rpm. I varied the boost level on launch through the accelerator from 10psi on the 1st run to 17psi on the last. The last 2 runs were my best with 11.3s and 1.7s 60' times. I was launching in 2nd gear on all runs. I believe I need to raise the trans brake revs to 4,000 rpm to get a better 60' time. I will run the E30 tune next time.

I thought an 8hp would get .2 - .4 better et straight up but your built trans was still working well on that sort of power.

Once you turn it up you will see better results.

A bit more power and im sure you will get some PBs.

I was launching in 2nd gear so I might try a 1st launch next time. 1st gear in the 8HP75 is 5.00 compared to 4.17 in the 6HP21 so it would be a quick change into 2nd gear. 2nd gear in the 8HP75 is 3.2. I am hoping with the E30 tune, it will get a 10s run. I need to get the 60' down a couple of tenths. I did a 1.57s 60' with the 6HP21.
