B&M or Rogue?
I'm trying to decide between the two. The B&M is out now, but I hear it's a bit notchy and more difficult to shift than stock(not difficult), compared to the Rogue which is supposed to be as smooth or better than stock. It cost more(no problem) but it's not out yet. JamesC from Bimmerworld has the B&M on the project car, but they say if I want a better product, wait for the Rogue Octane. No ETA on the Rogue was givin, maybe before the holidays. What would you guys do?
TIA, Danny

Danny, I say wait for the more ideal one then. It probably won't be long until the Rogue ssk comes out. I think RichP may have had a prototype on his car at the first NYC meet and people who tried it had good things to say. I have a B&M ssk on my boxster and it is notchy, not difficult to shift, but the notchiness is definitely there. Good luck.

I contacted Rogue after out NJ/NYC meet (was on 8/13/05) and they told me then that it would be out in 2-4 weeks...still not out yet. If you can wait for it then I would say wait. I tested it out that day and it was awsome. Im going to wait..

He also mentioned that this will not be a DIY thing because you will have to drop the exhuast, you'll need a lift, etc...bummer! Danny

I have noticed that the b&m and the rogue are quite different, will both require the exhaust to be dropped?
I believe I am gonna get a b&m very shortly. Depending if I can find a canadian distributor that sells them

Oh man! I have the Rogue (a prototype) and it is VERY nice, short and VERY smooth; the best SSK I have felt in a BMW (and I dont have a weighted selector rod, not sure if the kit will include one; I have had such brands as RE, UUC, and autosolutions in past BMWs)
Not sure about the B&M, but the RE install is like SSKs on the E46 and such, just get under the car and reach up. |

I had short through on my GTI VR6, and end up to broke the clucth release mechanism.
I like th E90 stock one feels, better than other BMWs. With a shorter knob, I think the through is acceptable. |

I recently swapped out the factory knob with the m-sport one and I must say, I made quite a difference! The extra few ounces make the shifts fell alot more solid than before. I may end up just leaving the stock shifter in now... Danny
