I am surprised the F90 is only 140kg heavier than the M2.

Is that right?? So the M5 CS might be pretty close to the M2 weight then. Wow

Edit: Looked it up

Technically M2 is based on shortened G80 platform therefore not much lighter. Tire sizing is like current M5. Weight is almost 1800KG. It’s a shame. This could’ve been such a great car. Oh well for some sales is determinating factor for car greatness

I actually really like how these renders look. I was scared of how this car would look after I saw the first 5 series leaks but these definitely look aggressive and like a proper sports sedan. I’m less worried about the looks now and way more worried about the power train. They can’t be naive enough to allow the M5 to only be faster than the current F90 for 10 seconds with battery then slower with only the ICE power. That would be a disaster.. I wonder what they’ll do super intrigued..

I came from an F80 and when the G80 was announced its like Deja Vu right now. Most will say "its growing on me" when they see the track/drag numbers.

Not a fan of the renders but will reserve judgement for the final product. Someone else already said it best though -- whatever happened to the M cars being subtle and subdued? A wolf in sheep's clothing? That's one thing that's turned me off to the rest of the M lineup, especially the M3s -- boy racer styling. Blech!

Right now, no FOMO with this model. That could change when I see it in person and drive it.

I’ve not been a fan of the looks of the new 5 but think this looks better. However agree with the comments about the m5 being a conservative styles car that doesn’t attract too much attention
Your granny wouldn’t know but anyone who knows about cars would
This renderis very shouty and people will either like that or hate it

For subtle looks, todays g30 M550 has it .

I’ve no doubt this will be good considering it’s weight but if it wasn’t that heavy , no doubt it would be better.
Has the m5 peaked in overal handling with the f90?, time will tell

For sure there will be a lot of attention on this when it’s finally released

I dread to think how expensive it might be
I was in a dealership today and they had a xm in there.
£162000!
I wonder if the m5 will be getting near that in terms of price ?

I think the new M5, based on the carwow renderings, looks nice. Let's see how it plays out in person in the near future. It's like this every time a new generation comes out but everyone will still buy the new M5 haha. I remember the hate on the E60 platform when it first came out and many still bought it.

BMW played it safe with the G30/F90 when the previous F10 was received so well after the controversial E60 that they didn't want to rock the boat. To me the G30/F90 is more or less a facelift compared to the F10 which makes it feel a little dated now. Don't get me wrong, I like the F90 look but designs and technology have to progress. I think the new G60 platform will be a nice fresh look.

Not terrible but definitely feeling the F90 a lot more so far. Will reserve full judgment till it’s finalized. I don’t really care about pure ICE vs hybrid in a general sense. If it lets you grab groceries without using gas or gives you instant acceleration to thrash previous 0-60 then why not? It’s still got a V8 and presumably will sound like it. It comes down to whether or not the hybrid system presents more glitches or warranty claims and if the thing is like a boat in corners or not.

Looks wise, I think it looks good, not great, but better than some of the other more recent M models. I can see why some folks don't like this rendering though.

I'm hoping the car can hide some of its weight with the power it is supposed to get. And it does not completely feel numb or like a large boat when throwing it into a corner. I mean at the end of the day, the M5 continues to get heavier and heavier with every new model but at least it still impresses with its power/speed. So at this point, it wont surprise me if this thing turns out feeling like a giant couch that can destroy supercars.

And like most of you, I'm curious what the 0-60 times will be. Based on previous models, every one is quicker than the last so I think BMW will ensure it is quicker than f90 just using ICE a lone. I'm hoping its actually slightly better than the M5 CS from the pure ICE and then the electric motor makes it a rocket ship. Mid 2's would be fun and mid 10s on the quarter mile times (Probably wishful thinking on my part though)

At the end of the day, if the handling, the power train and the overall power sucks, I'll stick with my F90 or go get an F92 and drive it into the ground before making any moves to these hybrids/EVs

All I know is that the true reveal cannot come soon enough...

Im actually pretty sure the F90 was the same or even less weight than the F10 with way more power which is why it easily destroyed it. The G90 will undoubtedly be heavier and probably by a large number. Coupled with the rumored XM powertrain and transmission combo which has gotten subpar reviews at best its wishful thinking to think this will be far superior performance wise by ICE alone. If the weight is as heavy as its rumored theres no way an increase of even 100hp on ICE alone will make it much faster. BMW is going to have to really work some magic here to make it faster at all times (not only with hybrid mode cause who wants a car thats only faster for a limited amount of time like say the new C63 AMG) and to make it handle and feel as good on the road as the F90 does.

We shall see!!! I hope they do figure all of this out I would grab one immediately.

I thought I’d be first in line to be order one, but as time goes on the more I think I’ll wait to hear opinions once released. I love this car so much it will be hard to part with.

Highly doubt rear fenders will be so dramatically flared. I’m hoping the LCI version will look better. Will probably keep my ‘21 m5c for a while and hide out in the x7 m60 I have on order until M5 conditions improve!
